It seems to work differently (better) now in comparison to what I got after coding with bimmercode.

I used this link to set up the ESYS

And this to activate

I downloaded the instructions:

And watched this youtube video to get an idea what to click in esys, since I had no idea how to use it

I also read this, when got ethernet error

Thank you Almaretto, TokenMaster, opasha, dmnc02 and shawnsheridan for your work! You are awesome! I wish I had your skills.
What year was your F15?

You just need computer running Windows and Remote Software (eg Teamviewer) plus ENET cable. Then, coder will download vehicle files, modify as desired, and upload changes. Process takes 20-30 minutes.

Are you still doing remote coding? Definitely something I'd be interested in paying a pro to bake into my 2018 F15.

A bill did recently pass, 1.5 years ahead of mandate. However, headlamps will need to be individually (per model) certified before BMW can decide whether it will give dealerships the tools to enable.

Yes, I can do remote coding.

Get it coded. Total game changer driving at night. You will smile every time you see the headlights rotate around or individually turn off the highbeams.

Completely agree and it ruins any other car without feature enabled as visibility is just not the same.

If you have used E-sys then the awesome Cheat codes produced by many of the fine folks on this forum makes the coding much easier. It's a must do mod if you have the LED headlights…love driving at night now just for the entertainment factor as anything

Totally agree. I could not own another car without the feature. It makes that much of a difference at night

Hello

I want to install BMW 61316827372 Steering Column Switch in my F15.
I will have to install it because I don't have a switch to turn it on automatic High beam assist.
Does anyone have link with DiY how to change it?

You know this not only about the switch, right? You need KAFAS camera for high beam assist to work.

I have everything else. I have support systems with camera kafas , but because I have bixenon, I do not have HBA activated. I want to activate it according to the guide, but I have to replace the switch on the steering column, so I need DIY

Can someone confirm if anti dazzle will only work in conjunction with HBA?

I’m hearing conflicting information about compatibility with adaptive xenons. I’ve successfully coded in VLD and am interested in anti dazzle but not interested in purchasing a $750 clock spring to enable HBA. Unless I could just swap the switch itself and not the whole clock spring.

Anti dazzle is not possible with Xenon headlights, you need LED headlights in order for it to work.

That’s the conflicting information I’m hearing. According to BMW themselves anti dazzle is compatible with adaptive xenon as well as adaptive LED. They just have to be adaptive lights.

I’ve spoken with a gentleman in England that confirmed he had anti dazzle with adaptive xenon.

Unless that compatibility is only with eu-spec xenons, which I understand there’s a flap that na-spec xenons don’t have, and I’m wondering if this is why it only seems to work on LED lights.

When you say not possible, is it because of hardware differences, or because it won’t accept the coding?

Finally got around to coding the GFHB today with E-Sys and BimmerUtility. Very, very easy with the cheat codes (verified against the V2 PDF).

I feel like the low beams now are "lower" and maybe less intense than they were prior to the change. Like that the beam cutoff is lower than it was before. I could just be imagining this, but something about the low beams just don't seem as good as they were before. The GFHB itself works brilliantly, though.

This could very well be the case if your coding activated VLD (variable light distribution), too. You can see in the first illustration below…the light pattern for conventional (1) vs urban (2).

VLD does change the driver’s side headlight from start up to around 30 MPH when it changes from URBAN to COUNTRY roads. Although when the F15 came along, BMW changed from the FRM to the BDC module in regard to the control module for lighting…but the concept remains the same as far as VLD function.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what it's doing. Every guide I've seen says to remove 8S4 from the VO - which appears to be the decoding/disabling feature for VLD.

I'm not a huge fan of what VLD has done in regards to my lowbeams. I'm sure it makes more sense in a more crowded European city with narrow roads and lots of pedestrians, but I'm not sure I really love how it works here. Is it possible to leave GFHB enabled but disable VLD?
