ID6 Wireless CarPlay Issue

9 times out of 10 when I'm connected to wireless Apple CarPlay in my 2017 X5 35i, I cannot choose another audio mode (eg XM, FM, AM, etc) without it automatically switching back to CarPlay as the audio input after 5-10 seconds. No matter how many times I attempt to switch the mode/input away from CarPlay, it always switches back.

The only exception is if I completely disconnect my phone from CarPlay, which is counter-productive because that prevents me from using Google Maps/Waze.

This issue occurs while my phone is in the wireless charger, or plugged into the USB port within the center console.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a fix? I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks!

Assume you’ve deleted both the iPhone profile on the X5 and removed the BMW Bluetooth connection from the iPhone. Then add the iPhone back.

It’s a good idea to create a new connection after an iPhone update

UPDATE:SOLVED

I wanted to provide an update to this post as I FINALLY figured out what the issue was here.

Long story short, I use an alarm clock app on my iPhone that requires me to solve puzzles and complete math problems in order to shut the alarm off every morning. I realized that while this app continued to run in the background, it would force any Bluetooth audio sources to always default to my iPhone as the audio source. Simply quitting/closing this app solved the issue completely.

For anyone who may be experiencing the issue described in my original post, take a look at what apps your phone may be running in the background, as an app may be the culprit.

Good tip, I do have some intermittent issues so I will have a look at my apps.
