I'm sorry but BMW's constant price increases are becoming a bit hard to swallow.

I have a relatively short stop and go commute that is much better suited to a hybrid rather than a diesel. I'm not going to debate someone who drives a X6M anyway. X6M owners are either foolishly rich, or just foolish. I hope its the former!

As a BMW hybrid owner, I can tell you that stop-and-go traffic eats up gas in the hybrids, too. Even when sitting at lights or creeping along on the hybrid battery, you can't make up for all the gas the engine sucks as it takes off from a complete stop up to ~40mph. Sure, it has better mileage than the petrol-only equivalent, but maybe only 10-15% better. Surely the diesel variants can do better than this?

In other diesel news, the xDrive35d is the exact same base price as the new LCI F10 535d. A $3K+ Eco-credit would make these more appealing

You have the new NBT Nav system in your car?

I have both an iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III. Which of these two (or other?) have better overall integration than the Navigation in my car? Neither, from my experience.
Use google maps on your iPhone with Bluetooth audio. You will quit using all other nav systems. It even shows you the actual picture of your destination when you arrive there.
I have 4.2 NBT in my F10 and it could not take me to a local state park which is in existence for the last 50 years. BMW nav sucks.

Has anyone priced a 535i xDrive lately? Or a 535i? The F15 prices are in the same range, even a bit less, and the 2013 F10 prices don't include nav, apps, etc.

Price seems like a modest jump considering my 11 x5 35i base with navigation and convenience was 56k

Ironic statement coming from someone who would spend thousands more for a hybrid to get a few miles per gallon better mileage. I have yet to see a hybrid that makes financial sense.

Yes all the new BMW's seem expensive, you have none other than the federal reserve, richard Nixon, fiat money and built-in inflation to thank for this.

Is 69k really expensive for the US market for the 5.0? Here the 2013 is about 105k and optioned out reaching 120 so I guess we will see that rise...

It's like comparing Apple and oranges imo.
The F15 are more premium and refined than the E70, as much as i like the latter.
The price is justified imo.
It should be a natural ML/Cayenne/LR competitor and priced around those cars.

Yep. I paid about 83k for my x5M. I will be buying it at lease end as there is no way I am paying that 100k plus that the new x5M is obviously going to cost. BMW price increases are just nuts. I may start looking at Porsche from here on out.

Now with the price increase. Why would anyone buy this over a Cayenne or new Range Rover Sport?

Guess the only reason would be the cheap-ass lease deals BMW has to move inventory.

A loaded MDX FOR $56K or an entry X5 for about the same.

The X5 better drive like hell or else it'll be a quick knockout.

What's your issue with X6M owners?
Are you trying to insult drivers who own X6M?

For your stop and go short commute, get a bicycle
Full-electric car may work as well

Your Q7 hybrid will weigh additional 500lb on top of already-fat-5400Lb base model to save you 2-3mpg
That would push Q7 to atleast 1000Lb difference with X5d
Now lets see what's more fun to drive and gets better milage

I don't think BMW is expecting to sell a lot of xdrive50 models, which is why they are charging a premium for them. I'm guessing most of their sales will come from the diesel model, and they are not too worried about losing sales of the xdrive50's.
I also don't think they will increase the price of the M's, since just as everyone else has pointed out, buyers would likely purchase a Cayenne or RR Sport instead. Hell, the new ML63 would be a better choice...

So they are hoping that the $70k base price of the 50 will make people buy an M instead, since the price increase won't be as dramatic for the increased performance
