There is no right way to mod. Everyone does it their way. Spending plenty of time on this forum, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen anyone using those Alpina rep wheels. Maybe you’ll be the first.

As to the "ebay" ness of the mod. I've used Ebay wheels. If you like them, go for it. 22" wheels will be a big hit on ride comfort, and aftermarket will have a larger tendency to bend on rougher roads (not that OE large wheels are immune) in general. Just extra info to consider. Good luck with your choice. I like Alpina wheels in general, though black defeats the purpose in my eyes. But we all like different things. You do you. |

Get a wheel guide pin, makes removing and replacing wheels much easier. Avoid that nasty scraping sound if you let the wheel drop on the brake shield. They run about $15.

On my F15 there is a huge difference between 21 and 19 inch rims when it comes to comfort and noise. The F15, suspension even for the M Sport suspension from what I was told was tuned for 19 inch rims. You will be definitely sacrificing comfort and overall ride quality and possibly handling for aesthetics for these. The price plus shipping is close to what some other eBay sellers are offering OEM restored wheels, as an alternative. For me wheels are a critical part of the SUV and hence why I tend to stick with OEM. But many on this forum change the suspension, wheels etc. It is whatever you are comfortable with. Personalization is all good. My advice is more around the ride quality based on my experience. Good luck! |

Like the guy in the tire shop said, ' i never seen a wheel brand that didn't crack or bend" to that the only difference is how much you spent. There alot of " ebay" wheels on here with zero complaints. They're nice , get you some ceramic coating bottles and triple coat those badboys and cleaning would be a breeze. Best to do it before Installation. My only knock is lack of concavity which takes away from the aggressiveness of BMW. Good luck.

Our F15 has already the 21" M package wheels, so other OEM wheels make no sense.
I have no issues to put some "cheap" replica wheels on the X5, it is mostly driven by my wife, two wheels are already marked by the local car wash. |
