Hi guys, my V8 engine started to burn oil since last service, roughly 2500kms burns 1 litter. I have an appointment coming up tomorrow to do an engine diagnosis, just curious any of you had an engine diagnosis before and what's it looks into?

What's the mileage?
Sounds like normal oil consumption to me. |

Are you sure it is burning oil? Not just loose drain plug or something?

I assume you are talking about your 16 X6M, so S63TU engine. F85/86 forum will be your best bet. I see you've asked.
I doubt your engine has a loose drain plug. I assume you were told by the computer to add 1L, and not that you have been tracking its oil consumption (from a measured fill, then measuring subsequent top ups in relation to the oil sensors readout. That computer rounds to the nearest whole L IIRC. So you won't get add .25L or whatever, just add 1L, as its better to have slightly more than too little (in most cases, YMMV) While there is a class action lawsuit again the N63/S63 engines for excessive oil consumption, 1L/2500KM would worry me personally. Possible you have a bad sensor, or were low a bit, and the computer sent the message. You also mentioned white smoke on hard acceleration on another post. Is this still happening? |

when I dropped off my vehicle this morning, I was told every 1500km/1L is within tolerance, but to me that seems too much. For that white smoke, it happened once on the high way, when I floored the gas pedal(when you can feel the bottom click). And after about five minutes, I tried again but no smoke or just a little bit, not like the first time tons of smoke came out. After that I never pushed the vehicle so didn't happen again. |

White smoke + loss of oil can be a headgasket. Doubtfull given what you have said tho. See what the dealer says. |

I doubt they are going to find anything, I feel like those diagnosis are BMW BS, that's why I asked if any members done one before, and what's that about. Anyway I hope they find the problem, since I still have warranty till end of this year. |
