Overweight option

Hi,

I bought a X5 F15 with many options last year and one is "charge tractable augmentée" in French, which is an overweight that allows to tow heavier things.

Does anybody know the max towable weight with and without this option ?

Is it possible to remove this weight to lower fuel consumption ?

Thanks

Whats your VIN? Pull the build sheet and then you'll find the option code. That should help focus in your search. https://www.mdecoder.com/

The F15 was 6000lb towing and 600lb tongue weight. The OEM BMW hitch receiver (with the pintle, 2in receiver, and various shaped ball and neck legnths) had some weird ratings depending on what attachment/ball size was used in the BMW receiver.

With a standard 2in receiver (like the Curt 13077) that will take whatever draw bar you want, the rating remained 6000/600.

That being said, the EU vs NA could have some changes that I am not aware of.

Thanks for the reply, I don't understand everything but got the main info for the 6000/600 ratio.

Maybe someone will have the answer about removing the option.

Lots found searching for that option code.

Do you have the electric tow bar? That could play into it also.

Seem that it increased the cap to 7700. I'd assume it was for self levelling air in the rear (an way to give the X Line / Base Air without 3rd row or MSport)

To answer your main question, I don't see you finding any heavy chunk of metal or whatnot that you can remove to increase fuel economy. Air suspension, transmission cooler ect won't net you anything significant. Removing the hitch itself would be your best bet to save weight....

Hmmm I guess you are talking about option S233A "increased towing load".

I am not sure that there is any extra "weight" for this. It is a set of options that allow your engine to stay cooler.

Oh, I thought this was an extra weight to allow extra towing load.
If it's just some cooling features, I guess I can leave it then.
