Two Minor Things

I'm one that likes to have everything working and as should be on my cars. I have two very minor issues that I'm wondering if they have simple solutions, really not signing up for any serious dissemble on the wife's DD.

First item is, I assume the bulb/LED is our for the left "Auto" indication on the climate control knob. It is indeed in Auto mode just no light anymore. Wondering if it's just pull the knob off and there is easy access to the bulb/LED or not and if it's even replaceable.

Second item is the "P" on the top of the gear selector, as you can see it's worn off, before I grab a sharpie and dust off my calligraphy skills, wondering there is an easy OEM fix.

Thanks in advance, both items are petty but bugs my OCD when I'm driving the X5.

The first one will be a bit of a task. The second one should be a VERY easy DIY swap. Plenty of articles and videos on that.

Replacing the entire shift knob or just the surface of the "P"?

Neither. I think the P comes as part of the silver surround. Do some googling or searches on the forum to see what is available.

15 second google search turns this up...vendor selling replacement P button on amazon.com. There's even a video that shows how to change-out the button: https://www.amazon.com/Jaronx-Button...=c2ca39e4&th=1

The wear on the 'P' button seems odd to me.

I never touch the thing because the vehicle automatically goes into Park when the start/stop button is pushed to turn the engine off.

Why do other people use it often enough to grind the paint from it?

Thanks all, yes ... I too found it in 15 seconds once I did a Google search. Wasn't aware it goes into Park automatically, most cars don't do that (my infiniti beeps at you if you leave it in Drive and power off).

Good luck if you go with the DIY for the P button.
