Drivers Leg Room

Anybody else find that there isn't a lot of front drivers leg room on the X5?

I am 6'5" tall with long legs. I used to drive an F30 and I could easily extend my leg all the way to the dead pedal and it was very comfortable for me.

With the F15, I am in constant left knee pain when driving this car. Is there a way to get the seat to go back more? I currently have it all the way back but wish I could get it to go back another 2-3 inches.

Thanks,
Jon

Lowering seat height also moves it back, but I guess at 6'5" you already have it down!

Yeah it's a real awkward position. I'm 6'2" and I have the same issue. Usually keep the foot to the right of the dead pedal next to the brake on long drives

I do the exact same thing to try extend the leg room a little bit.

I need to figure out something because its taking the fun out of owning it. Every time I get out of the car my knee is hurting.

I’m 6’4” and started a thread on this topic about a year ago when I first got my car. The folks who wrote in were incredulous that I found the car lacking in leg room. I have large feet, size 16, and this compounds the problem with positioning my foot on the accelerator. I wish I had the 2-3” you mentioned. Unfortunately, there are no easy mods that I’m aware of. Us taller folks are just generally screwed in the consumer world, from airline seats to clothing.

Sorry to hear this! I guess these are the VERY few times, being barely 5'8 have "some" perks

You would D I E in the G-Class. I am short, and the way the seat is positioned and the floor mounted gas pedal, your foot and knee are always bent in an unnatural position. I had my 2016 G for 14 months, and it was such a kick ass, cooooooool ride...but I had foot and knee pain after every drive!!

To date, with all the cars (crazy amt) I have had, including Rolls-Royce & Bentley....Full Size Range Rover has the best leg room and best overall comfort!! R-Royce was amazing too, and Bentley not bad, but not amazingly comfortable!

It must be the leg length / torso length ratio as I am 6'7" and fit just fine, I don't even push the seat all the way back. That reminds me that when I wanted to drive my father's car, who is a couple inches shorter that I am, I found his seating settings unusable and really uncomfortable.

I am 195cm (6'5") and I 've found a good position after two months of trying. You should adjust the seat down at max. Then you should adjust the distance to the wheel so you can touch the upside of the wheel with your hands wrist. The back should be close to 90°-100° also.

I think the X5's seating position being more upright whereas a sedan's seating position being more laid back similar to a coupe would be the issues the OP is having.

Fit in cars is so weird. I am 6' 11" and the X5 is about as good as it gets for me and I've tried a lot of cars/SUVs. I have the seat all the way back and lowered.

38" inseam. Granted I am used to fitting into cars different than normal people. But I've always found German cars to be amongst the best for tall people.

"Best" is of course relative.

Try tilting the front of the seat further upwards to take the load off of your knee. Also, if you have the extendable thigh bolster make sure it is all the way out.

I will try that. I do have the thigh extender ask the way out. Thanks

Ever notice that the X5 seat - when you raise it moves forward and lower it moves back? It's not on a good hydraulic period, meaning it does not go straight up and down... My fathers Ford has a better seat lift/front/back system, even being able to raise the a** end higher than the front if you want to get out of the BMW hole that is created when lowering.
