Next gen X6 sunroof
Looks like BMW is contemplating the fate of sunroofs for the next generation X6. I received an email survey from BMW Board of Drivers asking questions about
How often I use the functions to open and close the shade, tilt or open the roof itself. Seems like they are going toward panoramic roof that doesn’t open. Not sure of my preference. I never close the shade, I love the light in the cabin. I do miss the panoramic roof in the X5. I don’t open the roof as much as I have in past years but not sure about losing the ability. What’s your opinion? |

Shade always for the light. Sunroof if not too hot and sunny. Closed on faster roads. Minimum for next gen is glass roof to let light in.

Leaving shade open in AZ with 105+ heat is suicidal. I like that BMW is considering weight loss - main reason to eliminate electric sunroof, but I think best option is to offer 2 options to buyer to decide - there's too many variable to have a silver bullet

Shade closed during the day, shade and glass open by night! Prefer to think of it as a moonroof!

My previous car was a Corvette so sometimes I miss the airy feeling with the top off. I've only closed the shade once in the month I've had the X6. But I haven't opened the glass cuz I'm trying to keep the new car smell in.

Lower CG is exactly what the X series was missing! Lol it would save a lot but these are people carriers. Not an M4 with cf roof. Make it an option at a minimum.

Since the new X5 is right around the corner, wouldn't all the features on the X6 be finalized by now? Maybe the survey was for potential X7 customers?

Not 100% sure tho P.S. I think it was for X6 as it's considered more of a sporty version of X5 (more a family oriented car). X7 will for sure have electric sunroof as weight saving is not priority for X7 - that's going to be a most optioned behemoth and I'm 100% sure it will have every option available |

I think I could live with pano that doesn't open. For many years the roof was always open, even in the winter. Not so much anymore. But I would miss the ability to open. |

Shade open when not hot & sunny, hate the roof open, the wind buffeting noise hurts my ears.
