No one called YOU gay, and no one meant sexually gay (and calipers have no sexual identity so it wouldn't make sense anyway)...I give up trying to explain it anymore, sorry I failed you. I really had good intentions, but if it isn't a language barrier it must be something else...

Your post is hard to read...but I'll try.

You couldn't be more incorrect, there was no sexual anything with calling something gay back in the day, unless you were literally talking to a gay person about being gay.

Saying a car is gay, homework is gay, my teacher is a f@g, etc. was NOTHING to do with hate or sex. Not sure where you're from or your experience decades ago, but it was obviously different than many Americans...

You could do a poll and 99% of over age 30 would agree in their childhood f@g and gay had nothing to do with sexuality/preference/hate unless you really intended it to...and there would be no mistaking the hate from the normal use of the words.

But hey, everyone can relax, this won't be solved on a Bimmer board...neither will proper use of racial slurs and gun control...so let's get back to the vehicles already.

And yes, f@g also had cigs meaning in England/UK.

All I said was we shouldn't be using it in this context.
I did not imply that anybody was homophobic.
I understood your point that the word was widely used in past.
"only" been in US for 22+ years, I guess it was not in the vocabulary of the people I mostly interact with: namely software engineers and tennis players!

What about all of the below? Sure sounded like you were saying a lot and not understanding much.

Anyway, glad you're squared away. All good...except the tennis part

It's all about ice hockey and rugby...and banning caliper covers.

Moving onto golf.. Due to bad knees.
As for the quotes below, please consider the context.
I put pictures and am willing to accept criticism on design, taste etc.
Then someone starts calling it "gay", which I called tasteless.
Then a lot of people jump in calling me troll etc for simply passing judgment on the use of the word in this particular case.
There was one other gentleman who put carpets on his floor, something quite rare.. Even rarer than caliper covers.
Is that change "gay"?
You can pass judgment, just don't try to do name calling here.
Has happened in other threads, but should not.
This is about cars, nothing else.

And another thread gone political....this is why I don't watch TV anymore unless it's discovery or some other show on crazy animals F*ing up other animals! I just don't have time to care about all the snowflakes out there.

So since it's not like you're gonna remove the caliper covers if people don't like them (although you should simply because they're silly ), why care or ask what others think about it? If you think it's "cool" then that's why you spent hundreds of dollars on them.
