X5 diesel auto start stop
Anyone have experience with the A-S-S on the diesel model? I'm wary of using it as I'm concerned about short cycles on the diesel.
However, there is one or two long traffic signals on my commute, and if I just miss it, I'd like to enable A-S-S and let the engine turn off during the red phase... Any thoughts? |

It's completely OK. I even turn sport mode off at traffic lights to let the engine die for a minute. I used to own a V8 gasoline F15 before migrating to a diesel, it was OK there too. Not much of a difference alltogether.

I think the ECU does a decent job managing the engine on that front, the ASS doesn’t activate until the car is warmed up enough and not at all when it’s really cold outside. I drive in sport a decent amount for performance reasons but also drop it into comfort to let the ASS work at stop lights when it’s not below freezing.
