Help needed! Black Dakota interior, white marks on door panels.
Hi everyone! I had this also on my '17 X5 40e, but it is much worse on my current '17 35d. I can clean the doors with vinyl wipes, spray, Rolls-Royce interior cream....and within a day or so (even hours), the whiteness reappears.
Anyone else have this? It is on all 4 doors, but the worst door (see pic) is my rear, driver's side door. Of course this is cosmetic, and does not affect the performance, but for a $72k car that only has 4k miles...I find it really annoying. It makes the interior look cheap. Thanks for any help!! |

I know the door panels are not leather in my X5, but since vinyl wipes and spray did not keep the white away, I used Rolls-Royce leather cream...it is "hide food". Some expensive, British leather conditioner. I got it with my first Phantom!

Ummm....mine doesn’t have this, and I’d freak out if it did. Maybe stop using those wipes?

How did this start? Spontaneously or after using these wipes?
I would start by giving it a good wash and scrub with water and soap. This would possibly get rid of layers of products gunk which I assume it's stuck there. |

Since it was like that since you took delivery, maybe it happened during dealer prep?

Definitely someone used something on those panels that shouldn't have been used. I had a windshield replacement on one of our MBs and the guy sprayed an adhesive release agent around the perimeter of the windshield (interior). He protected my dash but after he left I noticed white spots on seat plastic trim, door panel, and on the glove box. Not so major that I went fighting to the glass company, but would not clean up. Permanent damage. Your door panel reminds me of this, only yours is on a much larger scale.

That's what I'm saying. Water, soap, scrub. Then apply some 303 protectant.
It can't be a mystery, you got gunk there and the wipes are just exacerbating the condition. |

Unfortunately, putting the leather creme on top definitely didn't help the situation. Like others have said, gotta clean thoroughly. I'd recommend 1Z Cockpit Premium. It's water based and has gotten my dash clean again after I was lazy and had my car detailed. They used some product that also left white streaks after they allowed it to dry before wipe down. 1Z got it all off and is leaves a matte finish.

I just ordered that matte cockpit cleaner. It seems to be called nextzett now. Maybe it used to be called 1z? Anyway, thank you for the recommendation. Cleaner arrives on Monday, Amazon Prime
If this does not help, I will call our local BMW dealer, where I bought the car from. Appreciate all the help. |

correct. it has a new name now but similar product. bmw offers a similar product and they'll give it to you for free if you bring the vehicle in for service with this complaint they or they will give you the small "towelette" version either way any of these products will remove the chalky residue.

Cockpit Premium is the best. I bought four bottles of the “old” formula before it was rebranded.

Same here. I hope it doesn't have a brief shelf-life.
