1) The drum in between the brake calipers and the disc rotors looks badly rusted. Is this typical/normal?

Some members on the thread are talking powder coating while others are talking paint.

2) What color do you guys think is best? I do not wish to make it look like something it is not, but I think BMW blue would look the nicest, matching the blue on the wheel center caps. It also would be the most conservative color of the choices of color. I am not trying to emulate M brake, but that color just seems to go best. In the alternative, will yellow be muted enough or will it really jump out? Other options: paint the brake calipers space grey like the body, metallic silver (gloss I assume), flat black, satin black or gloss black? Stock brakes dont look as nice painted as the M or after market brakes anyways, but is it worth the hassle? Any pictures out there of someone who painted stock brakes?

3) Do I need to do powder coating no matter what, or if I choose a more basic color i.e one of the blacks or metallic silver, high heat paint (non powder coated) is sufficient? If I go blue or yellow, is there only one route...powder coated? Do they even make a high heat blue or yellow paint?

Thanks.
I'm also 2015, Space Gray, M Sport and I went with painted Gloss Space Gray calipers. I had them done at a shop. My wheels are different though as I have Gloss Black aftermarket 20" wheels. It's subtle and turned out well.
Pics Please!! I have been thinking of using a color match caliper paint but I'm sure your will look much better.

Gloss silver, painted with G2 Caliper paint. I also painted the wheel hub(if thats the right word), so it matches the wheel.

That's the rotor hat. They get rusty/discolored all the time. Painting or PC. does help. I like a gun metal or matte silver to blend against the rotor rather than a contrasting color

Here are some iPad pics. Space Gray painted calipers and rotor hats painted black. I also had black BMW letters added.

I plan to paint the flares white, but keep the dark wheels. The car is mineral white.

Did you ever painted your 50i calipers? I'm just wondering how 50i calipers look painted, we've seen lots of 35i/35d but they have smaller calipers and rotors - thus I wanted to see 50i ones painted (doesn't matter the color)
