Dash cam wiring help please
I have a 2017 40e and are looking to hard wire a dash cam to the passenger rear cargo fuse panel since its very easy to access.
The issue I am seeing is that of all the larger (in size) fuses that are in this panel, they all seem to be always on meaning a voltmeter shows 12 volts even when the car is not on. I am looking for a fuse that will only be on when the car is "on". Has anyone installed a dash cam on a 40e? I'm guessing maybe these cars are set up differently than the gas models. Thanks! |

i ran my wire down passenger pillar to under the glove box. there is another fuse panel there, and some fuses that are switched on with ignition. just remove the panel above passenger's feet to see fuses.

It looks like the rear cargo area has mini fuses along the top right which are switched but all of the larger (medium) fuses show voltage when the car is off. |

The fuse for Parking Distance Control (PDC) is switched live. I had more trouble finding a fuse that stayed live with the ignition off (stayed live for more than 15 mins) and in the end settled for the OBD II port).
I can't remember the fus number, but you have a card tucked in the side of the rear fuse housing, look for the PDC logo. |
