Lowered on Eibach - before/after

New 2017 X5D, m-sport, standard suspension. Got all the options I wanted except M adaptive. Anyway, the ride height was driving me crazy. Call me vain but every time I walked to the car, the huge (mainly rear) wheel gap just pissed me off. Enter Eibach pro-kit: very subtle, perhaps 1" lower all around, but makes all the difference visually imho. Finally the wheels and the body look like they belong to a single car ... The handling is also improved with less body roll. Ride is - possibly - better? Feels that way. It's certainly no worse. Very very happy with the results all around.

Before and after:

Thanks for sharing. I am looking into suspension options as I have the same setup as you. Haven't decided which route but that looks great

Looks great! I also have the Eibach springs on my X5 and love the look and ride improvement.
Cheers

Agreed! With stock 19" 467Ms, the rear gap wasn't as pronounced due to the thicker sidewalls from the 255s, but after I swapped to the 20"/315s, the gap is more noticeable to me now.
If I end up with it as my DD, I'll certainly go the Eibach route. Thanks for the clear before/after shots!

Thanks for the kind words. This should be the stock ride height don't you think? Not sure what BMW is thinking with the dune buggy look. I'm cool with a higher ride height but why the giant wheel arch gaps? Perhaps trying to fit too many variants / wheel sizes into the same body? A few more pics:

Maybe it is a bad angle, but looks the same to me.

Very nice, did you add spacers as well?

I have my Eibach Pros and H&R spacers ready to go on next week, pretty excited!

I also think Eibach is the way to go - ride wise it's spot on. How much was install money and time wise? I'm always afraid shop can screw something during install, maybe I'm paranoid

Looks good.
Eibach is one of the option if you don't want to aggressive on the lowering.

DuSh , installation shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours.

I have no idea how long a job this is, but RGSport knows his stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was under 3 hours. However if you live in the Bay Area, you are out of luck. I called half a dozen indy shops and they all quoted the BMW service hours: 6.5 hours not including alignment. It's more of an insurance policy than actually paying for work done -- if it goes under, it's to their advantage and if it goes over, it's to yours.

I didn't use spacers and think the wheels look just fine. See the 3/4 angle shot above and here's one from the back. Definitely spacers will give a more aggressive look but I'm OK without.

By the way, here are a few more hilarious BEFORE pictures. It's some sort of dune buggy I think. WTF BMW? WTF? ;-)

Looks good. I ended up going with the H&R springs (w/ self-leveling) for my 40e.

BobDyl You can't blame it 100% on BMW. You need to blame DOT too.

Perhaps you are right. I don't know the ins and outs of DOT. But it doesn't quite explain how the ride height is OK on the F85, and even OK on the cars with M-Adaptive -- which I think is 10mm lower than standard suspension. Again, very subtle but makes all the difference. Maybe it's just to have a standard option with higher ground clearance for cars actually driven in the snow?

Your car looks much better. I got my springs and spacers from RG Sport and I am very happy with how it looks and drives. Decided to go with H&R springs for my rig.

How would I know if I have self leveling suspension? I have 3 rows and I thought I read somewhere that it comes with self leveling?

3rd row is automatic self-leveling.
