6 months. Back to square one. Totalled my X5

well that was a quick 6 months and the dark knight was hit and probably totalled. Most of the airbags deployed. I didn't know there was airbags for even your legs. Just ready for a new one. It was starting to grow on me. Even just order the fender flares

Damn, sorry to hear that, hopefully everyone is safe. Well, the silver lining si that you get to fix any regrets you may have had with a fresh start/blank canvas.
Keep us posted on the replacement DK II

I got hit in the same corner on my last x5 and not as hard. And no bags deployed. And it cost over 20k.
Don't let a body shop take you for a ride.
They usually lowball the estimate so that they get the repair job. And then later after they start working on it, they add on extras.. Whereas if they give a full estimate, the insurance will just total it and auction it off. And the body shop gets no work.

Glad everyone is ok. Yeah, I mean God forbid but even broken knee would be life changing event and even with lots of surgeries it won't ever be the same (let alone astronomical cost of surgeries and treatment), so it's good to know there's airbags for legs too

On the positive note - now you can start all over and chose a new car (new to you or brand new - doesn't matter, whatever suits you). Maybe even wait several months for a new gen G05 x5?

P.S. Hopefully car is totaled

Hopefully you didn’t incur any damage! Small fender benders suck so I can only imagine how bad something like this does. You should try to get it totaled and pick up something new or at least new to you.

I had an accident probably just as bad and the insurance did not total it. I was mad. It was a '10 Maxima with like 16k worth of damage. But no airbags deployed. After I got rid of it, it went to auction and the auction company determined it had frame damage. Insurance companies are greedy bastids. (no typo)

I'm glad to hear that you weren't injured.

Hopefully insurance will have you looking like new in no time!

The Dark Knight shall rise again! As others have said... glad you're ok and hopefully there were no serious injuries. ANY accident is traumatizing.

I don't know what year your car is, but if it's relatively new, and someone else was at fault, and the insurance company doesn't total it, get an attorney for diminished value. I've had several friends & family receive many thousands of dollars from diminished value - because today a wrecked car is worth much less than one that doesn't have a wreck in its history (think CarFax, etc. when selling, it's worth less for sure).

Hopefully they'll total it though. Glad y'all are okay!

Thanks A Lot

Thanks guys for the well wishes. I really appreciate them and also thanks for all of the advice. I'll take it all into consideration when I'm trying to get back on my feet. The truck really grew on me fast. I mean considering the fact that one it was an SAV and to it was a inline 6 Turbo. all my BMWs have been V8 and sedans. but I like the Sav and I would like to start building on that again. Now it's time to decide do I keep the 35i or go for the 50i.(If they total it out) quick question are you allowed to take off mods at a junkyard? Like sprint booster v3 and my racechip ultimate?

Don't think so. Once insurance takes possession, it's like confiscatιοn.
They will take it to auction and give it to highest bidder as salvage title.

Not completely true, if you submit receipts and they don't pay for the item then you have the right to go collect the item but you have to replace with the factory original if there was one.

Guess the rules murky in these situations.
Personally, I'd leave them all behind and start all over.
Why keep bad memories?
Sometimes, I think about it myself : after all the money I put in mods, all going up in smoke by a single moment...

Glad you are okay. But I would just contact the place where your car is being held to pick up your personal belongings that you've left behind. Pop the hood and remove the chip.
