+1 to Kzang...they'll let you grab your "stuff"...they just won't let you remove a stereo or swap the wheels for crappy ones...but tell them you have some personal affects and they'll give you access.

Ditto. Can totally get your stuff. And let's be honest do you have the receipt for everything? Do you want to fight over whether they'll cover the mods etc. best just to go get it back. I did that when I totaled my 350z.

Thanks guys. I just left the tow yard. The chassis is bent. They said that its definitely totaled. But they let me get everything. The young guys helped me. The hood was a little stuck but we got it. Sad site. Makes me angry seeing it like this.

Just wondering if you are leaving plates or you took them to return back to DMV no? I'm not sure how it works.

Every state has their own rules. In Oregon we left the plates on every car we sold or traded in. In Texas you keep your plates.
