New X5D Owner
Hey All.
Not new to BMWs, but this is my first X5. I do a lot of highway driving and need to haul around three dogs and a fiance, while occasionally pulling the race car to/from the track. I was getting 18mpg HIGHWAY in my GX470 and decided I wanted something efficient, capable, and comfortable. Not much else out there that meets my needs. I'm not sure if BMW has confirmed if the new G05 will come to the states with a diesel or not, but at 20% off MSRP for this one I wasn't going to wait around and find out. And if they don't, I imagine the F15Ds will hold their values a bit better than the other versions. So far I'm seeing 24mpg city and 32mpg highway, and I only expect that to get better as the motor gets some miles on it. |

I have 66k miles on mine X5 35d, and i usually get solid 27 mpg average driving normally with with the optional 21 inch rims (fat tires), 35d's are quite efficient given you have a new engine may get better results as is breaks in.

The rumor mill over at BMW/NA is saying not happening and the only alternative to standard fuel will be a hybrid. At 20% off I wouldn't care either and say you got a great deal and in a few years you'll have a unicorn on your hands that another BMW or Diesel enthusiast will gladly buy off of you for a reasonable price. Good luck with the new vehicle.

Thanks everyone.
Took my first road trip up north in it. Very impressed with everything, but the standout is these Multi Contour 20-way seats. I’ve got bad back problems and it is hard for me to find a vehicle where I can spend 3 hours in without pain, but these seats are outstanding. Soft and supple, yet supportive. Other highlights are how quiet the cabin is, and of course seeing 35mpg at 70mph. Looks like highway range will be 700-800 miles. For a 5,500lb SUV that is incredible. I really hope more OEMs stick with diesel. |
