I had this done to mine too...not sure how to explain it but apparently it makes the active LED headlights more "active" compared to stock. I'll try to post a video I took of mine in action.

Must be country dependent - in Germany, there are warning labels on the sun visors. As they're multi language, I guess they're mandatory in other European countries as well.

Actually, no. It's not just the glare-free high beam assistant. I changed the actual headlights. The reflectors are different inside the housings resulting in a different low and high beam pattern.

The ECE pattern has different cut offs for the lights and provides a broader beam of light. It's just a personal preference.

DOT lighting codes in the US are woefully out of date.

BMW M X5 50d ???

First off the SAV looks great. I tried to do this with my E70, I wanted it to look like the X5M, and BMW would not authorized me changing the exhaust to quad exhaust, while keeping my warranty. So I just bought the 2013 X5 M. I guess my question is ...why not buy the F85 X5 M? With all the money you put into car making it look like M50d.

Since buying my X5M I was happen with the performance, handling. I will never go back to the standard X5. I just Sold my E70 and have been place on the wait list for New 2015 X5M(F85). Just my thoughts. Again it look great, buy WHY?

Everything I've added to this is pretty much transferable to the F85 X5 M, with the exception of the brakes, CF parts, and a couple other things. They add value which will help private sale.

I plan on buying the X5 M when it is released. I needed a vehicle in the interim and the mod bug always bites!

Okay...thanks for the clarification, J. I did the same with my E39 M5 but I guess I'm ok with mine so I don't have any plans to do what you did. You didn't have any issues with wiring/programming. I recall you mentioning that the wiring was different between US vs European X5's. Clearly that must've been the case if yours work.

Only the tail light wiring is different. The headlights are not and (minus coding) were plug and play.

Some additional pictures of the M Performance parts I've added.

We will be doing a proper shoot very soon once the weather and schedules sync up.

Looks great. Was it easy to replace the front reflectors?

Not exactly...kinda hard because of all the plastic rivets.

The reflectors were an absolute pain. The rivets are all single use and have to be replaced.

Even worse was installing the M50d fins on the front.

Won't be doing that again for a long time.

Are they black or body colored? Thanks. I thought the 50i came with the front fins?

Those are white. I'll get the part number tomorrow for the black ones.

Your car is absolutely stunning. Great job on all the work. I love the look. I'm guessing it's not worth getting the front reflectors changed. I have a Mineral White X-Line. Ordered 22" X6M 375 Replica Rims for mine (the same ones from this thread: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=923595). That's the only mod so far. I don't really dig my black side skirts around the wheels and sides of the car. Is this due to the X-Line package since it's meant for off-roading? Is there a way to get the factory matching side skirts that go from the bottom rear bumper, around the wheels, side skirts, and below the front bumper like yours and everyone else that has the M sport package? Thanks for any help or advice
