2015 X5 xdrive35i Msport winter tire question safe to use 265/50R19?
2015 X5 xdrive35i Msport came with some ugly OEM 19 staggered winter wheels and worn Pirelli RFT Scorpion winter tires that I have to replace...
Stock size - staggered Front wheels- 255/50R19 (Rim size I think is 9x19 offset 48) Rear wheels - 285/45R19 (Rim size I think is 10x19 offset 53) ***New square setup - 265/50R19 on all four rims. Found some nice new Michelin X-ice SNOW SUV tires in the following square size and wondering if I'm safe to use these? Will they affect, rub, or damage anything on the vehicle, since it's a staggered rim size but mounting square alternative size tires? Will it work, and not damage the xdrive, transfer case, transmission, or driveshaft? I'm okay with the speedometer being slightly off. P.S. Are these OEM rims? Which BMW rim style is it? Thanks in advance. Last edited by 335icandy; 01-17-2023 at 09:42 AM.. |

An inch different wheel width will affect the overall diameter, but by how much I’m not sure. The transfer case will be the first to go if the size differential is too great.
Since you don’t like the wheels, just sell them a pick up a used pair for basically the same money. Make sure they’re square and you’re good to go. |

Yes that sounds like a good plan. Worried about the 265/50R19 size on the F15 X5... Correct size is 255/50R19 all around, square setup, as mentioned above. Do you guys know the factory wheel specs for this size? Like rim width and OEM offset? Any nice F15 BMW OEM styles I should shop for? |

Width and offset will not affect anything related to transfer case, transmission or driveshaft (really good thread here explaining what you need to look for https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1210115) . You can run square set up on these rims with 265/50R19, no problem (see this thread here https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1295837)

Thanks everyone! Great advice. I ended up buying the correct size, 255/50R19 Michelin X-ICE Snow SUV tires.
Now on the hunt for the correct 19x9 37ET square setup rims. |
