Install M Logo on Left and Right Fender

I noticed that the M Sport models outside of the USA have a nice looking "M" logo emblem on the Right and Left front fenders. I wanted to install on my car so I purchased them from RGSportShop.com.

Step 1 - Carefully clean the area where you want to install with alcohol.

Step 2 - Measure, measure, and measure. I used the door /fender seam and the crease in the fender as a guide. I taped the emblem in place to get a good feel for how it would look.

Step 3 - Once the location is decided, write down the distances and tape a drafting triangle to the car.

Step 4 - Install the logo. Be VERY careful when setting it in place. Use the edge of the drafting triangle to guide you. You only get ONE shot at this.

Step 5 - Rub firmly for about 30 seconds to get the best adhesion.

Step 6 - Stand back and admire you work!

Nice wjbender. I have them on mine and I got the same response also. The issue I have is that it should just come from the factory with it. If you like it, than enjoy it!

I think it's fine for M50d, since it's factory tuned proper M x5 variant with M brake/suspension in other region. M50d also has no side badges so there is no "over" badge.

Msport 35D/30D simply aren't M50D.

Looks good. Most markets get those on the M Sport.

I noticed that BMW initiated this, because I see it on the other countries BMW web sites. They also include the M logo on the steering wheel and door sills, and M stripes on the key. It's all about personalizing your ride. Some folks have painted M logo on the brake calipers - they like that. No one is going to mistake it for a real M - its all about looks and style.

I think soon BMWNA will start putting those ///M badges on all of the cars.
Like M235i, it is not an ///M car, but they just recently put the ///M emblem on the US car.
That is is just different mapping of N55 equipped car.

My "European" X5 30d M Sport was ordered with the badges deleted option but it still came from the factory with those two small ///M Logos on each side as being described in this thread (but no other badges). The regional differences are really odd...

We drove an X5 demo sometime last year that had the little M emblem on it. My CA says that they show up that way every once in a while.

My son wants me to put one on ours, but I think it would be odd to debadge it, then add some badges on that weren't there before.

All good about the style and individualism.

I'm kind of on the other side though in that I'm taking badges off instead of adding them.

Did you select both: Model Designation Deletion (which is the rear) AND Model Designation Deletion Side (which unsurprisingly is the side)?

I selected both options have have no badges on my X5

To Badge or Not to Badge, That is the Question!

My 2 cents. It's your SUV, you paid for it, you like it. Enough said. The M badge now for BMW is a marketing thing. Everyone that knows the different has seen the (F85) X5 M and they know the different, i.e. exhaust, seats front bumper. Now if you start buying F85 parts and place that on your F15 then that's another story. All the small M is saying is that you have M parts as a M Sport Package. Enjoy!

I don't care for the XDrive badges on the doors and i"ll probably remove them. I pulled on one with my fingernail and it seemed as if I used more force it would come off. I might try again later today if it warms up outside.

Yeah I would def. take off the side Xdrive badges, I would even remove the X5 badge in the rear as well. It just looks ugly on our cars..
If you X5 was fresh off the production line then I would also just pull it off by hand, but since you have had your X5 for a while I would proceed with caution and use a very thin fishing line or dental floss.. I prefer the latter.

Good suggestion - I can try the dental floss later

Yes, the car came without the X5 designation on the rear and without the "xDrive 30d" designation on the lower wing. Just the lonely little //M badges on the wing above the flare thing. I am flipping between leaving them or flossing them off (although my dealer told me that the tough plastic strip that is often used to wrap around boxes e.g. IKEA flatpacks, is ideal to slide behind and get the badges off).

That's really strange! Maybe its a 'Friday Afternoon' build?

I'd get 'em off...less is a more and all that!
