Cig lighter is ahead of the cup holders behind the sliding garage door.
Here are pics of the center console. Phone cradle delete will soon be completed.

There is on mine, a 12v socket below the USB, then one in front of the cup holders under the sliding cover.

Doanster you know we got sun glass holder in our X5 right?
Or maybe your glasses don't fit?

Yep. The ones you see in there now are the "throw-away" glasses. Both my and the wife's nicer ones won't fit in the actual holder due to the curvature.

Do we still have that other USB port hidden somewhere else like E70 used to have? I forgot, I need to check my glovebox. I remember the USB for music transfer was different than USB for playback.

I wish we had another cig lighter port in driver side so I can keep my console clean.

Nope. The one in the glovebox is gone, so I assume you transfer and play through the same port. Which make sense given that the media update can be done via the one in the arm rest.

I use the cig port for the rear to keep crap off the console (assuming I don't have interlopers in the back).

I used to do that on E70 since we didn't have a port in the console box, but I can't rely on back for my dashcam. Maybe I can find a way to run it all the way to cargo area, but is that constant on or switched on, does anyone know?

You can pick up either a switched or permanent live from the fusebox at the back in the cargo area, I don't remember the exact fuse numbers but if you look at the other dashcam threads on here the numbers you need will be in them.

USB in the glove box was so damn hard to access on the E70 and previous other BMW's.
I'm glad they got rid of that.

Thanks for reminding me, I believe I even asked someone before about the pigtail they used but for some reason that thread slipped out of my mind, I have to revisit, and I would need a new USB cable and splice the end to get power too. I think that was holding me back. My Dashcam uses usb to power it, not a standard +/- cord.
