Do you have a picture of the car from straight on?
I'd like to see how the plate looks in the tow hook location.

Thanks Atomic!
Very fast response!
US Mill Works can thank you for the order I'll be placing.

Do you find yourself using the quick release function frequently?
I don't think I'll be taking the plates off too often so I figured I should just go with the standard mount.

I've never taken it off. LOL!

Some advice on installing, it'll take a few tries to get it properly aligned but once you do, be sure to get it tight so it doesn't move. It's really solid.

Just had breakfast with a friend, he drove. Has a ferrari 458 italia. We were pulled over on palisades interstate parkway, he was gunned doing 97. Cop gets out of the car, mind you my friend who is driving has just about every pba card and gold card and shield and everything, lets us go for the speeding, but gives a failure to display plates ticket for the front. He said NJ is really cracking down on it, because of some legislation. And also that some insurance companies are raising rates when you get to 3-4 tickets for non moving violations, for things like seat belt etc. One insurance company he named was esurance.

Needless to say, when I take delivery, I'm throwing a plate on my F15.

IMO tow hook mounted plates look so childish. That only belongs to ricey JDM. Either put on the plate or leave it at home. I personally chose to leave it out and no tickets so far. Once I get two tickets I'll put it up and be done with it.

This is my opinion on this subject. It has been 20+ years so far in North Jersey and no issues so far with front plates.

I believe it's not for the offset "look" people are going for. It's about not wanting to drill into the bumper to affix the plate traditionally. I think the tow hook plate is the best compromise.

Completely agreed with you. I would rather have nothing up front but the police really is cracking down on "non-exotics" without front plates here. They're letting exotics get by for some reason.

Like how it was mentioned before, it's a good compromise. I really don't want to drill holes nor do I want to stick the plates in my front dashboard/windshield area.

Truth be told, that I was going to go with your setup because it is the best one so far that I have seen. However, again it has been 20+ years for me without front plates and I have had no issues as of date. I guess once I do get a ticket for no plates I will consider it... It is more likely that I would get a ticket while packed on public streets rather than while driving for a no front plate... and I just realized that I hardly ever park on the streets.

I got pulled over a few weekends ago...first time 22 years of driving. It was 9pm on a remote road, and as the cop came to my window, he pretty much declared no intention of writing a ticket for no front plate but that was the reason he pulled me over. In other words, it gave him a reason and he was probably checking to see if I was boozing. He was cool about it.

Slapped on the plate via 3M tape..not into the offset look. With it being the plate only and not the bracket that makes it protrude a bit and add more substance up there, it doesn't look too bad. Obviously not ideal, but I'd rather the wife not get pulled over for it (her car).

Can you explain the difference between their "standard" and their "lightened"?

More holes on the lightened.
I just tested another brand on my 650 which I think it should also work on the X5.
