How do i open exhaust flaps for X5 50i?

I love the "throaty" sound of the V8, and was told the exhaust can be tricked to stay open. Sounds too "tame" when they're closed IMO. : )
Disconnect vacuum pump?
Can anyone tell me the process for this?
Thank you!

i am not all to sure the cars have valves but i would say probably so, i will duck down under mine today. i have disconnected valves on my 335i and it definitely worked like a charm.

the 50i sounds very mean, throuty and rumbling upon cold start. just like my 335i the valves would open until it had some heat flow and then close and quiet down.

so i assume these 50is sound so good on startup cold because they have valves. must be careful over time due to the fact locked open valves may throw codes, and will gunk up and get stuck from carbon buildup

As I remember, there is no valves on the 5.0 and 3.5d.

Or is there a reasonably priced exhaust system (perhaps just the muffler) that can add more sound? I see that there is a local vendor offering cat back system for over $3k.

I think the loud cold start is actually the wastegates are held open for a few seconds. My M5 is CRAZY loud on cold start then mellows out with the turner muffler delete setup. I have no valves in the mufflers and its still loud when cold and mellows out. If you have the valves its simple to just take off the unit and wire tie the flaps open.

NO Valves layer under the car for a bit and no valves anywhere.

One strange thing I noticed is that in the midsection of the exhaust pipe we have some type of resonator muffler on each of the pipes. But they look different. One looks like a muffler and on the other pipe it looks like a cat. Not the same shape of resonator

I think both of them are resonator.
I would take them out to get a growl out of it.

Actually, you just need to take it out and remove the spring between the motor and the valve end then twist the valve to stay open.
I did that to mine, but it still not enough growl for me.

With that many canister, the downpipes will not do anything to the growl but producing CEL.
I would just leave the downpipes and remove the center pieces.
In the 35i, the center pipe are clean, all straight pipes between the downpipe and the muffler.

Let me know how this goes, Ben! I'm really curious to know how the 5.0i sounds after you guys experiment with this. If you guys make a video clip for us, that would be great as well! Thanks, buddy .

I don't think there are flaps on the F15 but what I really love in contrast to the older models is that when you put the car in sport or sport plus mode, you actually feel the difference (noise, performance and exhaust sound).
I especially love it when I rev the car and let the pedal go, it sounds just like a Cayenne turbo or GTS exhaust and even better. Great work on the new engines.

i really think im going to delete the middle resonators and just stick in electronic actuated cutouts so i can have a gurgly tone and a all hell broke loose tone.

I just finished with @Tcap car, unfortunately I was correct, there is no valve on the 5.0. Only 2 big resonators on the mid-pipe.
I would personally remove it and let the V8 sounds like a V8.

Aside from that, I personally installed the BMS N63tu Stage 1 tune. And @Tcap enjoys it. Installation actually took only 2 minutes. 1 minute to pull in the car and open up the hood. The rest just plugging them in.
Coded his car, installed the grill trim and front/rear painted reflector.

Found this guys post on the 6's forum. He removes the rear muffler (based on what he said, still waiting for his confirmation on what he removes).
I believe, these sounds are what you guys are after.
