Do you happen to know of a guide to do that? I've seen the how to make it start up in sport mode but not that

This sounds interesting. Could you customize sport mode so that steering is more resistant than in "normal" sport mode?

You can't code the car to make the steering "stiffer" than BMW designed it to be. Otherwise everyone would have done it given how crappy it is.

Thanks. Some forum member here got it done through a special BMW mechanic sent from the factory, I can't remember the full thread but he was mega complaining and the specialist got it done apparently f85 level. I heard also (not verified) that those without any adaptive suspension have an OK steering feel as well as those with Active Steering option (verified).

Well that sucks. With my old Q5 I could program the heaviness of the steering and was hoping I could do the same. I would drive in comfort more often if it weren't for the light steering.

With the X5, the Sport mode steering is stiffer than Comfort. You can customize Sport mode within iDrive to affect drivetrain and chassis, or drivetrain or chassis separately. If you select chassis only, your steering(for all X5s) and suspension(only if adaptive or DHP) will firm up but keep the drivetrain(throttle response, transmission mapping) the same as Comfort.

Additionally, you can code the X5 to retain whatever driving mode you are in when you turn it off, to start up in the same mode. Therefore if you turn it off in Sport, it will start up in Sport.

Yeah I'm aware and currently already have it set to start up in sport mode. However I don't always want to hold higher rpms but I just like the driving feel of stiffer steering. With mine not having the m suspension or the dhp I can't change anything. Sport mode it's suffer and everything but I don't have any adjustments like the ones with those packages do. Just wished I could code it one my q5 was all

I don't have DHP or adaptive suspension either, just the M-Sport suspension. You are able to code your car to let you customize Sport mode. I don't like the touchy throttle response and higher rpms of Sport mode most of the time and have it customized to "chassis only"

Give me a few minutes to look up how I coded my car to let me customize Sport mode and I will post another response. It took less than three minutes, and I was elated because my wife's 5 series had the ability to customize Sport mode from the factory, probably because she has the adaptive suspension and I loved the ability to just stiffen up the steering and suspension(if so equipped). On my F15, since there is no suspension adaptability, I just get a stiffer steering and it's great!

You are welcome, one of the settings is in Headunit and the other in ICM, both in Expert mode.

Do you get this screen? When you goto Sport mode, there should be a settings icon on the iDrive screen that you click. It should give you these three options: Drivetrain and Chassis, Drivetrain, or Chassis. If you see these options but are unable to select any, that means you have codes one of the items correctly but not the other.

That is so odd, I did the same exact coding and mine started showing the options and the ability to select. I absolutely do not have an adaptive suspension or DHP, it's all springs, just M-Sport.

Sorry!

I know there's quite a few threads on this and there may be some stuff there to help you...

Sorry to question the obvious, but you did click on code after making the changes within each module right?

Also, I did have an issue with coding and when I emailed them, BimmerCode asked me to download the latest version which they just put online last week and then it worked right away.

Yes I did lol and I updated the app 3 days ago. I think it might be this Joyeauto Apple Carplay thing I installed. I've noticed a couple bugs since install
