I'm convinced that once you test drive blackhawk's X5 that you'll be sold. He has the right X5 build plus mppk.

After I brought my 50i home, my wife wanted an X5 to replace her X3 35i. We ended up getting her a 35i Lux line and had Dinan installed from day 1. Makes a HUGE difference to the 35i throttle response and makes it much more fun to drive. Still can't touch my 50i, but worlds better than my E70 35i.

As promised, here is my video I took yesterday on a cold start with stock Msport exhaust and MPPK tune installed only. Mentioned in the other thread that I couldn't hear the burble sound, but I think I captured it on video as you can hear starting at 1:10 to 1:16 after I rev'ed the engine a bit. Note: I put the driving mode on sport when I did the revs.

For reference and comparison, here is my other video of just stock Msport exhaust couple weeks after I took delivery.

Did you make sure the X5 was in Sport mode during the test drive?

There is a BIG difference between Sport/Comfort modes for throttle response. I can't stand my X5 Comfort mode but in Sport its very fun to drive.

Alan
Completely agree. Picked up my new X5 (2015 x line) with MPPK installed by the dealer and really love how it drives in Sport. Even a regular X5 (without MPPK) is no slouch, but the difference is very noticeable.

I laughed when the wash/detailing guys at the dealership where asking my why the car sounds very different compared to the other X5s

my two cents

I picked up my new 2016 X5 factory ordered last week but had to take it back yesterday because they missed the MPPK install (even though I emailed the sales rep twice about not missing it . Only took them 40 mins to install it though so oh well.

I had driven it for about a week without the MPPK, mainly in sport mode. It's insane...previously I had a 2013 X5 35i m sport and this new one is unbelievably better.

With the MPPK the X5 has a deeper rumble and definitely has more get up and go. I think sport mode is more composed now. Throttle response is heavier and you can really feel the extra torque. MPPK has removed the slight jerkyness that sport mode had before.

Really it's confusing that the MPPK doesn't come stock on the m-sport

I am about 5000 miles since PPK was installed and the exhaust and engine sound definitely gets more and more pronounced, I was shocked how mean it sounded on Sport on WOT last week

I agree... apparently it takes a while for the tune to settle into the car. Since my video of the exhaust sound with MPPK, the exhaust sound now sounds much more deeper and with the low burble sound when letting off the acceleration.

Here is my latest video with the engine being warm for reference.

That's exhaust installed? Doesn't sound like a proper representation if it is

Most probably lowers it if you drive normal. The far feels lighter on its feet with mppk

Hi Guys,

Just to update. I got the MPPK and MPE combination done. What a difference in sound. well worth every penny. Now i am getting the M Performance Brakes done in couple of weeks and then last would be do Dinan stage 1. Does anyone here has done MPPK+MPE+Dinan stage 1? Dealer here said that Dinan would significantly increase the Torque. Dinan numbers show around 420 tq with stage 1. which is very significant increase. But would love to see if anyone here has done Dinan with MPPK and what they think. Thanks

question for all:

only reason i have not upgraded is because i feel the stock sport mode is enough to play around with, especially when you live in a city and dont have much room to open it up (maybe on-ramping and such at times). at the end of the day, i dont feel the urge to punch it every time i get a green light. anyway, my silly opinion.

that said, here are my questions: do you always drive in Sport Mode and hence the noticeable difference? Does the MPPK make a noticeable difference in Comfort Mode (that's typically where i usually keep it for city driving). i understand sport mode changes, but given the fact i drive in Comfort mode most of the time, i'm curious about the experience in this setting.

Thanks

I live in NYC and although comfort mode would be the more comfortable choice on most of these terrible roads....HELL NO...MPPK plus Sport mode is an animal!
I mean all kidding aside coming home late other night I had A free highway (which is rare)...so hehe I let her rip a lil bit..All I can say was...yea good..the harder I hit it the suspension just begged for more ( M adaptive suspension)..and the power was effortless....was handling 100 with ease..I didn't push it further. Although I could have easy..could just tell she would have handled much more

honestly I cant even imagine what driving an X5M is like...but I will ..cause that will be my next ride 100%.

Canadian MPPK cost

Can those with the MPPK in Canada share their costs? (parts and labour)

I got a quote from a dealer here in Vancouver for $2044 including $265 of coding and 12% in applicable taxes. I know that when converted to USD it may not seem that bad but this was the cost even when the exchange was closer to 1:1.

the mppk for diesel xdrive30d does require additional hardware (intake). in some countries, mppk is not sold because it changes the emissions output (esp for diesel carsO and car can no longer pass emissions after install. this is probably the reason why it is not offered on diesels in USA (because BMW don't have cheating software like VW).
