now that i broke in the vehicle and put some miles on it the exhaust sound and note has changed. it seems to be a deeper tone and now the shift burbles are more pronounced. it is NOW definitely louder than the RR-SC and RRS-SC i owned.

They are supposed to be drop in, I won't be installing if they aren't. I'm sure they are but will let you know. Shouldn't take more than 10 min install.

Based on BMC part numbers, they are using the same parts for both X5M/X6M and X5/X6 xDrive50i.

i installed them, wasnt so thrilled on fitment took some muscling! BMC makes the best performing filters though, i only drove the car for 1 day without them as i installed them on day 2 of ownership but im convinced intake sound is increased and not sure why i feel that way but i do. I know its unquestionable from my m3 and im happy with them on the x5 5.0, car is a beast.

are you able to source these at a competitive rate?

so would you consider this a weight-savings "mod" because you only feel the difference because you paid for it or is it a noticeable difference in general?

typically when i make changes to one of my vehicles i do not say anything to my wife... then when she drives it post "mods" she says "did you do something to the car???" then i know there was a noticeable gain... if she doesn't mention anything then i know i wasted my money.

i didnt want to put an exhaust on it because they all sound too much like a boat to me or obnoxious, so i did what i could. Im not unhappy with it, it wasnt a lot of money. Id rather not analyze it furhter, i think i can hear a difference and i stand by my story... lol

Anyone else do this, have a part number?
This filter type, oiled fabric, same principal as K&N and others have their appropriate applications. Ours is NOT one! You WILL be replacing your mass air flow sensor prematurely if you choose this type of filter.

I ordered a set over the weekend. Once they arrive I will install them and post a review since there has not been much activity or update on this product for our vehicle. Hopefully this will make the engine note slightly louder at WOT other than that I do not expect much else from these parts but if a snap is added to the acceleration all the better.

Decided to take the filters out and look at how they are doing. This is how they look from July 2016 up to May 2017. The exterior of the filter is filthy beyond belief but what is shocking is the interior of the filter is immaculate.

So have you noticed a sound increase over stock?

Thinking of either going X5M filters or BMC.
