Coming back to BMW from a little hiatus :)
Hey All,
Most of you probably don't know me and if you've seen my name pop up before...it was years ago! I previously had a 2008 IB E92 M3 and a 2011.5 AW E90 M3 (should be able to see pictures in my profile.) I used to be super active over on those forums, but moved over to a Jeep GC and quickly stopped posting. BUUUUUTTTT... Just recently ordered a 2017 AW X5 50i M Sport and can't wait for the mod bug to hit again! I've been hunting these forums for ideas as to what the "usual" mods are for these behemoths. I remember on the M3s everyone basically had the same starter mods (grille, side grills, side mirror, ram intake, etc.) I've come across a few, but would love to hear what you X5 guys do! I very much need to brush off the rustiness! Looking forward to chatting with everyone! EDIT: I just realized I'll have to update my signature and profile

Well, allrightythen!
Welcome back, see how hard it is to stay away. When you have all the break-in miles out of the way and you find yourself out on that PERFECT piece of road where you stick your foot in the floorboard and LEAVE it there as you run up through the gears remind yourself that you are driving a behemoth. Bet that's the last time for that!

Welcome back!! The engine(N63tu) in the xDrive50i is pretty strong in stock form. Just try launch control after you break the X5 in! Once you get used to your X5 a good Dyno tune would be a great option. I will be going with TTFS(Frank Smith) http://tuningtechfs.com/
He has an AWD Dyno and did excellent work on my 335i xDrive.

Thanks for the tip and I did get the M suspension, but not the dynamic handling package. The ~$4500 didn't seem worth it.

Other must haves, in my opinion, is the Nappa Leather, LED headlights, Multi Contour Seats and ACC Stop & Go... Be sure to check all those boxes at a minimum.

Ahhh! It's a bit too late now for DHP since it's already in production! I'm sure I'm going to love her without it as well

Welcome back ferrari6891. I'm sure you will find plenty of threads here discussing the mods. I'm just a week into my X5 now and am mod'ing every chance I get. I would recommend the M performance accessories especially "Carbon Fiber Front Splitter", it totally changes the look of the beast and gives an aggressive stance. Here is my build thread with some pictures that I just created a day back.

That is what I thought until I ordered it and have driven with it - nothing short of amazing. IMHO, a must have option for something as big and heavy as an X5.

I agree DHP is amazing.. but at $4,500... I could live without it and compromise with the adaptive M. With a 50i and all the options including the DHP, you are at X5M price territory. Might as well scratch off the 50i and jump right into the X5M.

+1. I thought a lot before I passed on DHP and settled on Adaptive M. Btw, with Adaptive M the price difference for DHP now becomes $3550, still considerable enough. Having said that there is a very good chance I might consider DHP for my next upgrade in 2020
