I'm driving Road America tomorrow

My 2017 X6 50i M- sport in going to run Road America tomorrow. It's my first time on any official track. Any words of wisdom?

That's a big, heavy vehicle, and there are a lot of high speed areas followed by tight-ish turns, so be mindful of your transitions from throttle to brakes and brakes to throttle. Canada corner can be tricky... assuming you'll be pushing it a little, you're moving at a pretty good clip coming in there, so be precise on the turn in. If you miss it, even by a little, you'll be in Canada (hence the name).

It's a pretty fast 4 miles. Have fun!

Keep your eyes up and forward looking down the track looking for your line. People tend to get short sighted looking at the turn they already have entered instead of looking for the line they need to make a clean, fast exit and approach for the next mark.

It looks like I might be driving on a wet track. I'm sure that will slow things down a little bit. I've never ran a track with a car but I had a performance motorcycle for quite a few years and that taught me to look through the corner.
I do have to drive home! No upside down.

Correct! You certainly won't be steering the X5 with your A$$.

I actually meant "brake" early, but given the weight, you might also be breaking early to let the brakes cool off a bit.

What type of event is this? RA does not allow just anyone on the track to run at whatever speed they choose in their personal vehicle. They do have a twilight 3 lap low speed, escorted program and I believe some other, paid for, on track programs depending on skill level.

I'm at the track right now with my X6. This is what they call a "track day" is has novice, intermediate, and experienced categories. I'm a novice, we will do two sessions of follow the leader, then the last session is 30 minutes of open driving with limited passing, no speed limits. The other classes do the just open driving. They emphasize this is not a race, just driving experience. There are a lot of Vettes going full out.
There are all sorts of cars here. Very fun.

Wow, I must be doing something right. No warped rotors, no shredded tires. Yes the brakes got hot and my rims are covered in dust, but we where only on track for 30 minutes at a time. I ran the crap out of that X6, 125 on the front straight. I will say that I think I might be in the market for an M4, the acceleration of the X6 was great, but it was kind of a beast in the turns. Cant wait for the next track day.
