Nice, congrats and enjoy! But did you really need the cold weather in CA?
Also, could you do us a favor and post some pics of the 3rd row? I am seriously considering it, but can't tell from some of the posts if it's worth getting or not, some say it's OK for a 3rd row, we aren't expecting spacious legroom back there, just for kids, but some say it's terrible, not worth it.

Hey, I was just about to come in and search for hybrid experiences because there is a really sweet deal going on right now in X5 40e xDrive. Do you guys have a thread going somewhere?

In reference to your ride, please share more picture, it looks gnarly, though I wish it was easy to swap those reflectors with clear ones (I don't like the idea of blacking out safety equipment).

Lastly, did anyone hear the rumor that '18 eDrives (i know it's xDrive, I like to call them eDrive for some reason) will have Rear view camera and LED lights as standard equipment?

Rear view cameras will become standard equipment on any vehicle sold in the United States beginning with the 2018 model year. This is federally mandated.

Thanks, I didn't know if it was by model year or by the year they are built. How about headlights on '18 F15?
Does anyone know when will BMW update the model year of X5's and online order section?

2018 production will begin August 1st. BMW will probably not update the 'build your own' portion of their website until mid to late August.

Local dealer offering $5k off...MSRP is $72500 including delivery. Then $3k if I finance with BMW. So total is $8k off but a good chunk of that is the financing rebate so they aren't really giving me much from the dealer perspective. It's a build as well. Should I expect more?

not bad, just wanted to make sure you didn't get gouged on the money factor, and no cap cost reduction.

are there any incentives/rebates this month for the x5?

There is the $5K factory incentive that BMW is giving on the 40e hybrid models. That is why we are getting pretty decent deals. No brainer if you ask me. At least 550Miles full tank.

Honestly, I test drove it and the 35i and they are comparable. If you're not about speed then 40e is perfect. X5 are getting even more luxurious. Get a M3 if you want the speed.

How quick does it discharge when you floor the 40e? It feels like the battery is good for only one or two short bursts.

Thank you. Cold weather is really not that worthy in California. It's ordered by the dealer as is.
For the 3rd row, I think it's worth for me because I have 7 people in the house. I would say it's ok for small folks like 5'5" or less in the third row WITH the condition that second row has to be adjusted all the way forward. I'm only 5'8" and my wife 5'4" in the front row so we can move up the seats a little to give extra room for second row while my father in law at 5'5" and a 5'1" teenager in the third were totally ok. Long distance trip can be problematic. I wouldn't recommend any trip more than 2 hrs in the third row for teenagers or older.
1 sacrifice: cargo space. With 7 seats in use, you will have only little cargo space left around the size of 2 carrying on luggages. It's not like Tesla X that I tried lol.
Btw, I had running boards installed and honestly, I hate the look because I have M-Sport. My wife requested it and didn't have any choice...;(

Thank you, I always wanted to see how M Sport would look with running boards, do you have pictures? I didn't even think you could make themdo it.

PS: Now that I think, I believe when I looked at the 3-row X5, they did NOT slide the 2nd row forward..That might be why I thought it was totally useless because there was almost no legroom. Plus, instead of me, slightly taller than 6' trying it, I should have asked my wife and son to sit back there. There is no ISO tether on 3rd row, right?

Yes, not only the cargo space, you also lose the magic space (spare compartment with no spare) by getting 3rd row. Sure, less space for us to hoard stuff, but still, I always used it to keep clutter like the ikea bags, bike pump, hazard triangle, few detailing/clean up products, etc..
