My car is a lease, so it's easy to return it in a year and half with cutouts left closed and no fuss from the dealer vs the exhaust mod. (which i like)

In that case - go for it. It's going to sound same (minus X-pipe - which is only contributing minimally if I have to guess).

I seem to remember the original guy that did the mod and saying that before he did the x-pipe, it sounded horrible. He didn't like it at all and then had them weld in the x-pipe which gives us the terrific sound we have today.

Maybe try another place?
I re-order a 2.5" instead of 3", I'm definitely going to try an other shop

That's the sound 50i should have had from the factory imho. Hell, that sound is even good for X5M

I'm honestly liking that sound more than some expensive $4-7k aftermarket exhausts.

After 300 miles will sound much much better. I highly recommend BPC flash. That will take you the new level

Sounds super sweet. I agree with Dush, can definitely pass as a X5M from just the sound. What size tips did you get? Im assuming 63mm inlet? What about outlet size?

Agree, it does actual quiet a bit and sound a bit more civilized. We have all noticed it that have done this particular mod. Still sounds aggressive as hell though.

They are all OTS maps, it just depends on how you want to deliver it to the DME. I have been pretty impressed with the BM3 stage 1 tune that you get with the flash. I have not dynoed but one of the guys in the BM3 forum did the tune on his 50i and dynoed on a Dynojet. He hit 530awhp I believe and like 576tq.

Here I found the dyno he posted there. He also did his best 1/4 pass at 12.34 I believe.
