20" M style 469M - in SNOW?

Hi i have a quick question.

will 20" M 469M-with performance run-flat tires handle snow?

i know they should be summer wheels but i am thinking of going to Tahoe and there is a LOT of snow... will they handle it? or do i really need all weather tires?

am i able to get chains for those wheels?

thank!

My experience is that summer tires are terrible in snow and its not worth putting yourself and other at risk. I would suggest renting a car with at least all season tires.

I second the suggestion. A summer tire with a lot of snow is bad news and dangerous. All wheel drive means nothing without the proper tires for the conditions. Have fun when you go though, be safe!

Why I ordered 467M's in All season 19's. They get by and with 20k planned to drive this year by the end of the year I'll wrap them in winter tires. Best bet I've figured out.

Look into 20" Snow tires for yourself to use just in those conditions.

I have those 469M wheels but with Pirelli Scorpions winter tires on mine in 20" and they perform really well in the snow/ice. Not as well as the studded/snow tires I had on my previous Rover but they're not bad for what they are.

I have those same tires on my 467m's (19") and they are pretty good. Can't say I've really put them through the ringer in a lot of snow, but when I have used them, I've been satisfied in deep and light snow, as well as some ice. Didn't really play around the way I normally do to test them, but in normal driving, they did do well. They're performance winters, so as Atomic80 said, they won't be as good as more serious winters, but still MUCH better than summer or even all-season tires…..

I make the Tahoe trip monthly, if not more. Don't attempt on the performance tires. Been there, done that. I've been stuck because of chain restrictions before. It's best to just find the ideal suited tire/wheel combination and swap before the trip, or get a set of chains.

That's what I did before I sold the X5. Doing the same thing with the X5 M.
