19" Wheels versus 20" Wheels...
I'm pretty sure I'm ordering an X5 50i in a few months. I'm interested in handling and not ride but we occasionally get snow around here so it wouldn't hurt to have the 19" wheels with all seasons versus getting the 20" wheels then having to get Conti DWS tires.
I plan on getting the dynamic handling package. I looked on the E70 board and there was a little on a this topic of 19 vs 20. Interested in your thoughts X5 forum members on any advantages in going with the 20" wheels. I wonder if they would just weigh a bit more and not offer much or would they be a hefty step up on cornering/handling. |

Mine came with 20" (50i) and to be honest i love them on the corners. Mine are 336 y spoke and it has 10 in the front and 11 in the back their wide but great handling on the corners. U gonna like it compared to 19". But every person has different thoughts.

One thing to keep in mind
19s are all-season, while 20s are summer performance tires If you get occasional snow in the winter, you should either get set of winter wheels or not drive the car during those times |

We rarely get snow but I wouldn't mind the capability.

Keep in mind that an all season tyre isn't that good. They are a compromise both in the summer and in the winter. Performance tyre in the summer and winter tyre in the winter is the way to go and it is really not that more expensive because all seasons needs to be replace more often.

hi guys,
do you know if the E70 wheels could be placed onto the F15 wheels? I am being cheap and I really like the Y Spoke 214 black rims from E70 and want to put onto the F15.... Want to know whether the "offset" so that I can order the E70 rims... Thanks for your feedback! |

I am about to order a new F15 3.0D Msport X5 here in Austria. Off course we have lots of snow and all season or winter tyres are mandatory in the winter months.
I wanted all seasons as I have on my current X5, but with the new X5 MSport package I have a choice of 19" with mixed tyres or 20" with mixed tyres. Whenever it is mixed tyres , all seasons are not an option, and as the car will be delivered in January with summer tyres, no choice there, I have to emmidiately before leaving the showroom, buy another set of 19" or 20" with winter tyres. I am starting to wonder if the M Sport package is worth it as I will anyway pay extra for the leather seats, 2 sets of wheels and tyres etc. |

I guess I will then settle for 2 sets of 20". The 20's just look so much better with the M-sport. The trend for all cars here is to buy not just the tyres but also the wheels, so every 6 months o so the dealer will swap them and store the other set. |

20" winter?
I am leaning to the 20" summer tires, but I live in Vermont and need winter Tires. Is it ok to get 20" winter tires or should I get 19 or 18 inch wheels with winter tires and swap in the 20" summers every 6 months?
I have heard that even though there are 20" winter tires, its better to have smaller wheels on the winter tires. Thoughts? |

It is also easier, IMO, to swap the wheels every winter and spring than removing and re-mounting tires twice a year. By the time you pay for that over the years, you aren't saving much over just buying a winter set (which does have resale value, so factor that into your cost equations..). So if you think of it that way, if you decide to get a winter wheel & tire set instead of just tires, might as well go an inch or two smaller and get better traction and peace of mind. |

I'm running 20s for my winter on separate wheels
Happy with dry/wet/deep snow performance It's 275 square setup No complains Enough sidewall for me 19s may work better for deep snow, but not substantially |
