Anybody buy replica wheels lately?

Post what you got. My 3 year old wheels have taken a beating, and I need new tires soon. So may buy another set of replicas.

Yeah. But finding a set without curb marks or corrosion means I'll pay top dollar.
Heck, check these out for 750.

I've bought plenty of replicas over the years. They always take criticism however I've been very disappointed in OEM wheels over the past decade, especially BMW. I've had 3 bent ones and 6 with clear coat/finish failure. The way I see it replicas can't be much worse and on the plus side they're cheap to replace if needed.

Are your replicas repairable? If its just curb rash...you can have that repaired for a lot less money than buying a set of new wheels (replicas/new/or used).

Check around locally to see if you have vendors that powder coat or repair alloy wheels.

I had one of my Style 356 wheels that was damaged beyond repair. I found a used one...but it didn't quite match the same wear pattern...so I had all 4 of them powder coated so they'd all look the same. It only cost $400 for powder coating all 4 wheels.

If you only need curb rash repair...that would probably cost less unless all 4 wheels are curbed.

Bro as long as your car is clean and looks 🔥🔥🔥 , who cares? Dont get caught up in the OEM bullcrap. OEM fails just as much as anything else. This ain't the early 2000s where aftermarket was subpar. If it works for you, go for it.

Here's my current 469 replicas. 3 years old. But they have taken a beating. Lots of snow and salt which caused corrosion. Plus I never really washed them properly. Just pressure wash whenever I washed the rest. Though They are strong and have had no structural issues. So I either refinish these and deal with the downtime, or just buy another set.

There's several ways you could go.

You could buy a complete winter tire/wheel set-up (18" or 19") which you probably can find used in the classified etc. This would give you a set to roll around on while getting your 20's fixed up. As well as protect the 20's from the ravages of winter driving.

You could by a new set of replicas.

You could have those wheel powder coated to look like new...but would need to dismount the tires & TMP sensors as well as find a place locally that would do the job (or send them off to be done which would add the cost of shipping etc). As mentioned above, I did this and it was $400 for all 4 wheels to be done. I selected Bengal Gray...but your vendor will have multiple colors to select from.

Below is a pic of one of my 5 year old Style 356 wheel after having them powder coated Bengal Gray:

After doing a lot of research, I recently purchased a set of 22" 612 style reps with Toyo Proxes. I haven't had them long, but I'm happy with them so far.

Mind sharing some vendor names (replicas)? I see eBay as an option but would like to know who you bought from. Some vendors can be a pita.

See link in post #11 above.

Or you could look up the BMW wheel style using any of the online part database sites (like realoem.com, bmwfans.info, or bimmercat.com)...then just do a simple google/internet search using the 11 digit BMW part nbr and wheel style name. This should get you vendors that sell that wheel. You can also do the same on ebay and amazon.com (use the 11 digit BMW part nbr and wheel style name) and this should get you used, new, and replicas.

Click on this seller's other items and type in x5, and you'll see they have quite a few replicas.

As long as they are VIA stamped, then they're fine...I would not touch them without....Been using replica's for many years for our winter set-ups...
