Apple CarPlay / Media Radio Album Art

Was hoping someone could help with my media radio no longer displaying the album cover/art, it used to put on the right side but now it just shows a black screen with writing. See picture. The circled pic on left use to show on the right. I can't get it to come back.

Any reason you havent just coded it to full screen CarPlay and gotten rid of the right side section when using it?

I honestly didn't know that was an option. How is this done?

You can code it yourself, or have someone do it for you. I 'hired' someone off ebay for like $30 to code it for me. Makes it looks so much better when you're in carplay, no side bmw square

Wow ok, can I ask who you used on eBay? I found this online is this a reputable place? Says I need a cable though

I did it YEARS ago on an old X1 and i cant even recall what i had to do, I thought it was much simpler without a cable. The seller i used doesnt have anything on ebay anymore but id imagine most any of the sellers on there would be ok.

I did mine through Bimmer-Remote and it was an incredibly smooth process. I'd definitely recommend them.

Back to your original question, it's a bug in later versions of CarPlay effecting some apps. Apple will eventually fix it.

Thank you, I did just program it to be full screen. Looks alot better ☺️

What happens when you are using full screen carplay and running waze? Can you still see album art at all?

I'm not sure I use google maps and it looks like this. You can still see album art. I will test Waze and post pic later today

You can from the 'home' screen. There are 2 views that you can do in carplay when using Waze/map apps; 1 where its full screen just the nav, and the 2nd is the 'home/split' view like shown above, where the maps on half and quick buttons and media info is on the right. So it would be exactly the same just with Waze showing not google maps

Yay! Glad it worked When i had my newer cars with it, it was the first thing I coded, looked so much better. Now I still need to retrofit it into my F15 so i can have it back again
