No alarm sound when locked

I just bought a used 50i MSport. The option to sound an alarm when the doors are locked is on, but there is no sound. Coming from an E70, this is strange.

The SA said that the alarm is an optional feature and may not have been added, but the vin decoder has it (302 - alarm system) and there is that option to enable audible alarm, which doesn't seem to do anything.

Does it honk on yours when you lock the car?

Horn honks when engine is running.
Alarm chirps when engine is off and idrive menu options is selected.

EDIT: Assuming VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE & ACOUSTICAL_LOCK_CONFIRM is aktiv.

My dealer wasn't able to code VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE to nicht_aktiv. Very frustrating.

Besides activating it, you can change the type of sound as well. I've changed mine because it was to loud. In the coding thread you can find the correct parameters to change. Many combinations I've tried resulted in no sound, while the option was activated.

I have never heard of a dealer willing to code anything. They just have ISTA+ and ISTA-P for diagnostics and programming, but not software for customizing settings.

Agreed. There aren't any dealers in the area that can code individual components or modules. They cannot code out of region either (meaning, if your vehicle is coded for NAR you cannot enable ROW features).

Had the same issue with the wife's X5. Took the X5 to the dealership. Apparently the tilt sensor failed and once it was replaced everything worked again.
