That's why the
dealers make US customers sign non-export clauses with purchase.

Yes, depends on how you purchase it. You gotta know how to do it.

Oh...140K for a 40d..thats a steal
I paid like that, as a very good deal actually-for my 25d here AND that doesn't even include the wood trim, huh!!!
Now, seriously, is the trim real wood or some kind of plastic?
I mean - even for the very best treated wood, tiny surface cracks could may be expected as it is a "live" material after all
- but if its some other modern material, no cracks should be expected IMHO.

Thanks
Bent

Sorry to hear about the cracks in the trim, xeo2002. That's the trim that came with the Pure Experience package here in Singapore, so in the end, I opted for the Pure Excellence trim instead, which came with the more standard smooth polished American Oak interior trim.

My X5 xDrive35i is about 85% loaded as well, and after conversion (1 USD = 1.25 S$), I parted with USD306,240 for it. You guys don't know how good you have it!

But congrats on an excellent car choice buddy, fine cracks notwithstanding!

$306K for your X5 in Singapore??? You're joking...wow. That's like a Maybach/Bentley price in the US.

@xeo2002, sorry for your cracks as well. That is rather annoying. Now, I'm even more happy that I'm wrapping my whole wood panel trim with Carbon Fiber.

306K is almost 100% more than here but Singapore is generally expensive country - city . I am going to claim this central trim as it is natural wood , anyway this kind of cracks not supose to apear when car is brand new. This is quite new kind of trim and i suspecting my dealer store while installing additionall GPS system they was removing this trim for some reason and during Putting it back they forced it that is why is cracked .

Wow...that's awful. We really are lucky. At least you are able to afford the X5 at such a price. Seriously, .

Wait till you hear the best bit ... all our cars, yup that includes the F02, F13 & the F15 in my garage at the moment, are in actual fact, on a 10-year lease. Once that 10-year lease is up, in order for me to keep my babies, I need to pay a top up called the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) to the government - at present prices, the top up will set me back $75,000 - per car.

Oh, I own the cars alright, I bought them, paid for them & they are registered in my name. It's just that I don't have the right to put them on the road & drive in them without paying the additional COE (I could keep them as ornaments in my driveway otherwise).

Enjoy your rides at the prices you pay guys, while I look on in envy (but I'm happy for you guys!)

Man...my heart breaks for you, my friend. All to keep the roads cleaner/less congested (according to that Fast and Furious 6 (btw I've seen them all ) interview)? That's really lame. I had no idea that Singapore's economy was like that. Talk about extremes, lol.

Well, for what it's worth, if you ever need coding help or any other info, just PM me. I respect and appreciate your positive attitude/words .

Thanks for those links.
I knew SG was extreme regarding carprices...but that's crazy.
Of course...we cannot compare $ for $ really as many factors play in, BUT Its interesting to observe the unreal differences around the world.

I don't see what I would call cracks, but here are some pictures of the trim under my screen.

First, no offense to those that can afford a $300k car, most of them don't make the laws (obviously some do because there wouldn't be such a law if they themselves couldn't afford a car) ...

When I watched that video I thought: Ya, less congested roads for rich people to drive on! All those hoopties are slowing them down. Hooptie = a spanky new Prius in Singapore.

Wait, I don't really want a Prius in front of me either.

Its hard to see in that pic, however if you're seeing a white line then there is a defect. The wood has normal/natural highs and lows in color (and texture), but as long as the surface is not disturbed, it should have a brown/grey huge (never white).
take it back to your AD, they'll replace it.
