JL Subwoofer install (to HK system)
I am loving the X5 and while the HK stereo was good, I thought for such a "powerful" system with "subwoofers" under the seats, it lacked a little bit on the low end. Also since this is an SUV with a lot of room under the trunk (where the spare should reside) there was room for a small sub. I found a reputed local installer who said there would be no issue adding a JL amplifier to the stock HK unit. They installed it neatly under the factor amp with plenty of room to spare.
Then they suggested a 12" sub with a pre-built enclosure... We used the JL Audio model "CS112TG-TW3" with their 12" TW3 subwoofer which fit neatly under the hatch in the truck with only mm of room to spare. They also installed a volume control knob near the driver seats so I could turn up/down the bass. Funny enough, although I was looking for a little thump - after a few days in the higher settings, I found it much more pleasant about mid-way. The lows really fill in and there is very tight bass response without glass shaking boom. I adjusted the EQ for three clicks less of bass overall, 200hz -2 and 100 hz +1. For anyone thinking of doing this. The sound is now what it should have been from the factory system.

Looks like a clean job, enjoy that! I would love to get a similar setup, I tried it on E70 and failed and then sold my Alpine set.
