16 35i vs 16 50i

So To give a little back story this is my second 35i both have been 16s. First one was great. In the mean time between I ventured out to other things INCLUDING 16 X5M. Now before we get to far in this I had the X5M for about 7 months and although it was an amazing rig, it was a bit much for me daily driving. I enjoy nice things, and that’s what I had it for. I sold it and went back to the 35i. I feel the f15 is perfect size for what I need. I’ve contemplated going back to another M car, but not sure it suites me for what I use it as. Now I do like enjoying my drives sometimes as as the taste I had with the M car the 35i obviously is a lot less. Now before anyone comes in saying you idiot etc, it was simply for my personal needs. My 35i is fully loaded so didn’t lose anything. I am contemplating going to the in between with the 50i a 16 as well. As far as I can see it’s been well maintained and extremely clean. As the 35i have little to no issues and the M cars are similar anything I should expect? It’s got 59k on it but again has been maintained through bmw and was previously certified. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

35i is most reliable. You'll sacrifice a bit with the 50i. Plus worse fuel economy.
I don't think driving a 50i or 35i that you can tell a difference between the two, unless you press on the accelerator. So i guess, how important is that faster acceleration?

But you do need to move same amount of weight and the 35i will feel like a slouch compared to the 50i.

Garage List
Depending on what your commute is like, city or highway and how you drive, heavy vs light foot.

35i feels quicker (not actual speed, but the feel moving off the line) in city/downtown driving with lots of stop sign/red lights, due to the lighter weight on front axle. It also feel more comfortable, easier throttle control because it has less low end torque. Overall it has enough power as a quick DD.

50i feels (and is) heavier off the line. Where it shines is highway driving, you know you have the torque and power to pass cars. It's not as fast nor handle as well as X5M but it has more than you need as a DD. It's a fast DD. Fuel economy is very similar to X5M. N63TU engine is quite reliable if you do all the scheduled maintenance, change oil every 5-7k miles.

Test drive one and see if you like it. You should be able to feel the difference driving off the lot.

I have driven the 35i and 50i and the difference in power off the line is quite obvious. Since you owned an X5, my 2 cents is that the 50i will give you a nice blend of great power with a smooth V8 and the comfort of a DD. For me the best X5 would be the M50i.
