The Definitive Survey of2014 X5 F15
I need your help. I have done the ground work.....
Retirement got the better of me and I took the plunge. Six painful hours. This is a draft and as this is not my line of work by any stretch of imagination, but I thought to improve on my prior survey. This should be much more relevant in capturing info where there are no issues (not a survey to catch problems only). It takes about 2 minutes to complete. A.Constructive criticism welcomed B.Volunteers to fine tune this on Google Drive / Google Docs even more welcome. I am neither a mechanic nor current on BMW coming from Merc. Just send me message and an email address and I will add you as an editor. C: Please complete the draft so we can see if the results tabulate correctly and what points I have overlooked over emphasized. Survey Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...bzHpU/viewform D: After you do a dummy entry, you can see the results here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...p=form_confirm E: If we get a few thumbs ups, "let's go", "looks good" feedbacks we can publish the final. Once complete, it behooves those on this board with higher authority to make such surveys a fixture for all model years. |

1) it doesn't cover the diesel variants available outside the US
2) if you answer "no issues" you don't get as far as the questions about which options you specified so these sub-totals are still not representative |

+1, you need to add 30D & 40D for non North American vehicles.

Also, some of the packages in the US, Driver Assist for example, are duplicated by name in the UK version but the contents of the package are different so it will be very hard to ask a question 'Do you have driver assist' and then ask questions about the content of it as UK/EU vehicles are different form the US/NA version.
Maybe you need to work at the individual option level 'Do you have a reversing camera' to work around the same name different content package issue. Option codes are consistent through the world and easy for people to check from their VIN. |

Night Vision, Active Steering, Damper Control, etc.
Would really appreciate a few words of input from those who have:
a trial/draft survey is here for the viewing. Would appreciate taking it and testing it. I think it is close to begin forum ready as a non-pro survey. Takes 2-3 minutes to complete: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...bzHpU/viewform This is what the results will look like, once the survey is populated with real data: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...p=form_confirm Thank you. |

On the questions on Night Vision with Pedestrian Warning, I think meaningful questions would be to ask about 1) how effective it is at alerting when there is an animal or pedestrian, and 2) how helpful this alert has been in avoiding the animal or pedestrian.
The system seems to function properly, but it doesn't alert unless the object is directly in front of the car and you are moving toward it, which may or may not be sufficient. I've had it alert and I can't visually locate the animal is that caused the alert. |

@PepperJack, I incorporated your comments.
Also incorporated comments in the "comment" section, caught more errors and typos, and added an overall ranking at the end. My eyes are glossy from having looked at it a lot, and I can't see the typos anymore. Not a pro survey, but hopefully good enough for everyone here. If ok, I'll repost a final, and ask that we up vote to the sticky threads to get maximum feedback. Thanks everyone who helped. Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...bzHpU/viewform Results of draft / mock entries (which will be deleted): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCy...p=form_confirm about 3 minutes to complete. |
