360 camera setting not remembered
My dealer messed with my 6wa, and changed a new dash. Sadly not 6wb, now every time I put the car in park, the rear camera comes on, not the 360 camera. My dealer says they will make a puma case, anyone experience this?

You need to VO Code your HU_NBT (iDrive). This will reset it to match up with the new 6WA they installed. Do this before considering other options/issues. Majority of the time it's a simple coding fix.

Really? Hm...is this for all F15s? I don't have surround view, so I figured resetting the HU_NBT would make the previous settings work properly.

I think mine remembers. I just pulled up today and Auto PDC came on and camera was showing me top view. Or maybe it is different in each circumstance. When it comes on without you putting the transmission to reverse (Auto PDC), it's always top view, but when you start driving and put it in reverse, it's whichever used last.
Check if this is what's happening to you.

If the auto pdc is on and you pull up to something the top view appears. If you put your gear selector in reverse the back up camera comes on and not the top view. After the back up camera pops up you then can select top view. However, if you put it in park and then shift into reverse, the back up camera comes back on and not top view. I gotta figure out which ECU controls the camera and see if I can change via coding.

There was a change (and by change I mean bug) in one of the recent I-Levels that made the reverse camera view appear by default instead of the previously used setting. Tried everything to make it stick like it used to but no dice.
From what I've read recently I believe it's been fixed. Just need to fully code my car to the latest I-Level to confirm.

In 2015, it's top view. Or is it possible for a vehicle to have front camera without TOP view? Maybe that's what it was. To be honest, the cameras in F15 are not that clear with Top view, and with front view yes it is nice and wide but when you have an object in front corner you underestimate the distance because you can't tell how far it is on edges, I wish they kept the corner cameras in front bumpers.

Hello all, new member here, just got my new 2015 F15 delivered to me a couple of days back, I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of options available in the soft ware, coming from 2 Lexus RX's in a row, I was quite surprised by the wide technological gap.
I seem to have a problem with the rear view camera coming up automatically when selecting reverse if the current screen is showing top view, am I doing something wrong or is there a problem of sorts? Thanks. |

Got an official statement from BMW Europe today. The newest software is rear view camEra by default, it doesn't remember the setting, like the original software in the car. All new cars will be like this. Bmw, this is not an upgrade, this is a Downgrade. They also sent a legal statement that they reserve the right to do software upgrades, which might effect how things work. Great customer care Bmw!

I confirmed with an inside source today that this is now intended behavior. It's unfortunate. But having lived with this for a month now, my muscle memory now has me reach for the iDrive controller, turn once, and press to get top view.

I still can't believe this. If I wanted a rear camera, I would've bought it. This has to be the handiwork of lawyer/lawsuit/governmental safety regulation, because it is just plain stupid not to remember my previous setting, not to mention the previous function is mentioned in the owners manual.

Or click the camera button next to the gear lever if with surround view to change to rear, top or front view depending if in driver or reverse.

Wow... that does suck.
My 2011 X5 5.0i has surround view which I love and have lived with for almost 4 years now.. and to go test drive the F15 .. and immediately noticed the default to rear view... was very disappointing to the point of not wanting to "downgrade" my SUV... hopefully they will change this soon! |
