Wanted to share: just installed rear hitch on my wife's 2015 x5. I went with Draw-Tite, heavy duty part# 75600. Curt is making hitch that fits x5 as well. Primary reason I went with Draw-Tite (~$170) is that it lets me keep the impact bar, hitch is installed UNDER/BEHIND rear impact bar. IMHO, it is very cost effective alternative to BMW accessories (~$450) + attachements.

Installation requires complete removal of rear bumper. It took me about 2hr for everything. I did NOT have to cut lower part of the bumper - it was pre-shaped from the factory. I believe Draw-Tite is also supplying wiring harness, etc. but all I needed was a simple 2" hitch so I could carry bikes in summer and ski during winter.

No one makes a hitch for the M sport package. I've been looking for two months - all reputable hitch makers state "except for M sport models"...

Invisihitch claims to have one for M Sport. Their website is not updated, but I received email confirmation on availability for F15 M Sport

Yes! I had mine installed at dealer. I only used the hitch only since I use it for my bike rack and nothing else. Install plus cost was $800? Click below and you will see picture......

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1036106

Since that picture, I have installed the Carbn Fiber Diffuser with zero cutting and zero issues.

Enjoy!

Again, not true. Invisahitch and BMW make it for our M Sports, cost could be an issue, but ask yourself "if I'm using for bike rack, ski rack, and etc. I don't the electronics. If I am really towing than I need electronics". I hope this makes sense. The electronic pieces are the expensive parts and is where you need cuts into bumper except for invisahitch.

That looks really nice, nice job! Question? Why does it seem like it hangs out more than normal?

What's defined as normal?
It does NOT stick outside of the bumper.

It looks like it hangs out more, but if you say it doesn't, I'll take it from you that it doesn't. I'm sorry.

Invisihitch will work on the F15 m sport. I have it on mine. Search the forum and you'll see several reviews of this product.

BMW also provides a hitch however even though it is advertised as 'hidden' you can still see it. Additionally the BMW hitch limits you to only towing something with a 2" ball whereas the invisihitch will allow you to change balls as necessary.

I am looking at the Draw-Tite also. What is the distance from the 2" receiver to the bottom of the bumper? Does it hang below, or is it pretty much the top of the receiver box is touching the bottom of the bumper? THanks.

Invisihitch sells the ball mounts without the balls, you can get any size ball you want and put it on the mount. You can also get the mounts with different drops for different size trailers.

There are also 2 options (well, 3 if you include a "no option") for lights. OEM, which plugs straight into the cars harness, and passive, which splices into the lights.

Are the trailer hitches that U-Hual offer any good?

I'm pretty sure the UHaul 78265 is made by Curt and is the same as their 13077 hitch.

I'm trying to figure out if the Curt vs Draw-tite flush mounts below the bumper (non-M-Sport). Also see this posting I made on etrailer:

Dumb question: How will the parking sensors react with a bike rack inserted into one of these? I assume it would beep like crazy.

How is the trailer hitch holding up. And as for sensors, did you run into any complications, sensors, cameras, etc.

I plan on only using the hitch for bikes and skis as well. I do not need wiring harness etc.
