Hornblaster Train horn in the X5
so i have the conductors special kit.
2 gallon tank, viar compressor, 4 horns!! extremely loud. i am mounting the tank and compressor on a piece of 24"x24" plywood, and should have the clearance to shove it in the empty spare tire space. all measured and ready to mount. the compressor and electric will be sourced from an ignition powered Fuse tap in the rear Fuse Box i assume. can anyone help me understand which Fuses will be Powered by Switch? the diagrams are lacking and i do not know which will do this. will they be the smaller or larger fuses? i also have not figured out where to mount the horns quite yet.....they should fit in between the bumper and radiator, but i need to remove the top metal sheet.....does anyone know how to remove part of the upper bumper? i dont want to pull out and break my atermarket grill........ i am unsure where else to mount them...

YES! I had something similar in my V10 TDI Touareg a number of years ago along with a big bush bar and 4 PIAA yellow driving lights. Haven't had the chutzpah to add one of these to the X5.
Can't wait to see the result!

i will snap pictures of the install...
So the plywood mounted compressor and tank fits absolutely great under the spare tire hatch.... plenty of clearance, isnt taking any usable space, and is out of the way and protected..... the ground and fuse box is only a few inches away. so i need to find two fuse taps, tap into switched ignition power fuse jacks. and go from there. any one have input on the Rear fuse box and possible switched power fuses? i need to go compressor to fuse and to ground.

May I ask the "why?" question? Rural area? To scare the bejeebies out of little kids on the sidewalk?

Some would call a person who blows that horn around others a douche.

Now now people. I doubt Jouster is doing this to be an a-hole. It was an honest question on my part. The "bejeebies" statement was a joke.

I only used mine on the highway to get a Prius or similar vehicle to stop hogging the left lane. Worked every time. Got me many dirty looks and a few middle fingers, but laws are laws.

Always wanted them. Neve had them. Horns are useless at highway speeds, and the X5 horn is especially useless with its delay.

wow...everyones so harsh on these forums....when people ask me why, i say if people dont want to see me, they will hear me!!
here is south Florida, anyone else around here?, people are the worst drivers. we have asshole college kids at FAU and old people who cant see over the wheel....now i dont want to give old people heart attacks, but ive seen older gents hop out of their cars to bang on other drivers windows....or sit at a green light because someone honked at them to move over after not following traffic signals.... it is hell on earth on these roads in Boca Raton... so yes! when people on the highway decide to not use a blinker to cut me off, casually roll down the left HOV lane under the 65 posted limit..... tailgate me because im going to slow at 85MPH... wealth of assholes around here. yes if i was in rural bumfuck where it was only me and the other guy, my horn might work. but with kids and there loud music, assholes driving with headphones in their ears, people staring ever so intentley into their phones as they enter my lane at my positiion. im not going to risk someones life on busy roads by blowing my ass off, but if they dont mind running me off the road and killing myself or my GF, i have no regard for their life or their clean underwear..... @r33 , they are the conductors special Hornblaster, its 4 large horns, if you mount them side by side, i would need a 2'x2'x6" void. they will fit behind the grill in front of the radiator, but i have no idea how to remove the bumper or access back there at all...

I respect the contributions you've made here but....those horns are dangerous. And against the law.

actually I have a set and I have trains all around my house. I like to let them know I'm crossing the track before they do. LOL

Blowing a loud horn to scare someone is stupid.
That said, a really loud horn is very useful against driving and texting. A new survey from CBS says that up to 98% of drivers admit to doing it. |
