50i,Predominately hwy, my calculation not CID with Shell octane 91 with zero ethanol.
Imp mpg = 22, US mpg = 18, km/l= 7.7, l/100km =13. Default mode. Fun factor will always trump mpg. Enjoy |

Just did a 600km trip in one day (60% highway, 40% town/b-roads).
It was quite a hilly trip, lots of mountains. I was taking it very easy, trying to see what mileage I could get. I got a 40d 14.1 km/l 33.1 miles/gallon(US) 39.8 miles/gallon(UK) Pretty pleased, but again, this was taking it easy. I had it on 70mph on cruise control most of the way. I do think if it were flat, I would have gotten a bit more. |

35i, second full tank of gas, mostly comfort with a little eco and sport, about half the tank in city or traffic, not pushing it too hard yet since she's still a baby:
16.2 mpg (trip computer) 15.5 mpg (doing the math) I was expecting more from the I6. I know they say numbers should improve after a few thousand miles of break-in, but at that time I will also push it more and go WOT so i'm not holding my breath. I was getting about 14 mpg in my 2011 50i and that was with me flooring it quite regularly. Work covers the cost of gas, but still i thought stepping down to the 6 would at least net me quite a bit more miles on a tank. Not seeing that so far. Anyone know if the EPA numbers are for the standard/comfort mode? I hope those are not ECO PRO values...

senoromar - was MPG the primary reason you went 35 after having a 50?

Been driving my new not broken in X5 50i, and my best result so far is 22L/100km or 11MPG. Mostly city driving in heavy traffic. Mostly in Eco Pro mode with Start/Stop On, although I don't have a light foot. I am not impressed by the mileage per tank at all - around 400km. Seems to equal my F10 50i, although the latter had only 60 litres tank as opposed to the 90 litre tank of the F15.

About 13mpg with 35i mostly city driving. It's 400 miles old so I think it will get better. I really hope it can achieve 17mpg. I couldnt even make 300 miles with first tank of gas, very disappointing.

Not at all moabite, since work pays for gas mpg was not a factor. It was just a matter of cost. A 50i similarly equipped to what I had before is now over 7K more in price and that put the payment out of my comfort zone. Seeing better numbers at the pump will help me sleep better at night with stepping down from the beast that the 50i was.

'M50d only done 160miles in it from new at 60/40 city/motorway I've averaged 32mpg so far. Not too bad as it's not broken in yet' That's pretty good. My E70 30D 2011 is trip 34mpg on similar driving. Getting F16 50D on 19 Jan so interested in mpg although i often nip into Germany and 120-130mph reduces the average quite a bit - the 50D might be an even higher average autobahn mph than thsi though with mpg consequences!
