From what I've read (magazine tests) engines need to break in and perform better after a few thousand miles) Are you driving it more conservatively because of weather? |

Hi Motex,
My dealer had one with the MPPK on it, and so I was able to testdrive one. Try asking your dealer what can be arranged. I agree it is a lot of money, the standard 30d is a very capable and relaxed engine. The MPPK just makes it the best it can be without sacrificing durability. As this is midlife crisis cruiser I went down the path: If too big is just right. The 40d or M50d at the time I bought the car just a bit to steap for what I wanted to spend. When cruising on the highway with the family the cruise Control is on 145-150 km/h, maybe 160 sometimes, it's only when I'm alone and in Germany the speed-deamon inside of me get's loose, on the daily drive to work I have to drive 108km/h for the most part due to a speedtrap over several kms of highway. Last time around I did a lowflying practise run with >230, but if I had done so with the wife and kids onboard I would have been sleeping on the sofa for several weeks. You will not feel deprived from any enjoyment when postponing your decision, unless you married a former racecardriver screaming 'pedal to the metal' all the time. |

Thanks for your time to reply, I come from an 2015 M4 coupe and 2010 X6M, and even though the M4 and the X6m are in another league, the F15 30d has a nice torque (something around 560Nm of torque) and it really gives me a good driving experience, as you mention, do I need more? no, do I want more? YES! I just had the car for 1300kms so far (took delivery on Dec 23rd) , since we have no real highways in this 3rd world country, my top speed commuting to work is about 140kph for a few seconds......average like 60kph I still have an old chip I bought from http://www.tunit.com/ which is sitting in one of my drawers since 2010 (used on my former 2008 X6 30d) , but I had turbo issues during the use of that chip, I'm not sure they were "chip related" but left me with some "bad taste" about re-using it, the dealer told me it was the chip who caused the problems, and almost lost my warranty, they gave me a second chance LOL After all this, and since my wife hates speed, I think I'm fine at least for now, I'm also in my middle age crisis, turned from the M4 to the X5 due to back problems, so now I'm enjoying comfort instead of power and speed

No MPPK for the 50i unfortunately. I suspect the performance will be too close to the X5M which is why BMW never made it for this car.

Well....
I have had a RaceChip (set on C) for about 7 months of the first year with my 2015 X5 x35i xLine. I have enjoyed it. I had the MPPK installed the other day and wow what a great upgrade to the car. I drove it for a couple of days without the RC. Yesterday I stacked the RC on top of the MPPK and all I can say is do it. Each and every one of you...... Just do it. |

Not sure. This is my first non-V8 BMW since my 2001 - 5401i, 2004 - 745i, 2007 - 750i, 2010 - 550iGT, 2012 - 550i, and I finally feel like I am not missing the big engine.

With MPPK it is at 5.6 seconds... If I had to guesstimate, I would say somewhere around 5.2 - 5.3 seconds.

I have a Xline with MPPK and only installed the sticker in engine bay...thinking of installing M Perf on rear hatch window... decided against.
Love the MPE w/ MPPK on my 35i X Line.

It is great on the Xline. I decided against the M Perf decals on the exterior also. Did the engine bay.

1. BMS Stage 1 - The cheapest solution and trick. Which I also have in my 650GC. 2. Dinantronics - Expensive but safest solution since they warranty the product and anythings happened to the engine due to the product. Which I just happened to become their reseller. 3. Flash Tune - Price averages around $2k. The best output but no turning back or resale value.

Just picked my 35i with MPPK. MPPK is great. I thought my E70 3.0 was under powered and have been driving a X3 35i last two months which was great and was worried the X15 with same specs may feel under powered since it is bigger and heavier but with MPPK it feels very powerful.

Now with 6K miles on my MPE this is EXACTLY how my exhaust sounds as well. In sport mode while the car is decelerating it makes all of those burbling/popping sounds until the car stops. In comfort mode it does not do this. Some people like this, I personally don't.

The aftermarket tunes (Jb4 or Racechip) increase the boost levels (among other changes) to a predetermined PSI. correct ? Lets say JB4 map2 and racechip set on C raises the PSI to 15 or 16 . With that in mind...Lets say the stock PSI of the turbos is 12. When adding the MPPK, it is safe to assume the turbo PSI it's increased (in order to produce more power). Lets say 15-16 PSI. So what I dont understand is how the stacking the after marketune to a MPPK car will provide any additional performance ? Perhaps a dyno or race slips can prove this doublestacking theory provides any performance gains anyone ?

They all do the same thing. They increase manifold pressure (i.e. "Boost") and adjust fuel mapping toward the rich side, and then adjust timing curve. Rich mixes cool the intake charge and maximize power. The whole concept is riding the knock sensor.
The N55 engine has a fairly large turbo relative to the amount of boost it produces in stock guise. This leaves a lot of room for easy tuning. The B58 engine will be less ripe for exploitation. Remember that all of these systems increase the risk of engine damage and component failure. Especially stacking. |

I have a question for those who have MPPK on their F15 or F16, especially is Alpine or Mineral White:
Did anyone notice if it resulted in any black exhaust soot (does it run richer)? Any additional issues on the rear bumper? Thanks! |
