Cracked intake tube
Sooooo found that the bank 2 “rubber boot” as BMW calls it…or the intake tube, as I call it…cracked where it mounts to the turbo on my 50i. Which is letting some air in post MAF and filters. I’ve ordered both bank 1 and bank 2 replacement tubes from FCP Euro. How bad is it to drive the car until they come in Wednesday? No engine light but when I pull codes I’m getting stored “bank 2 lean” codes. Have been driving it like this for a bit already, just discovered the crack. 🤦‍♂️

Considering that allot of us are driving around with these things cracked and don't even know it. Probably not a good idea, but ...

I’ve got it rigged up so that it’s tight for now, and I’m going to try not to drive it until I replace the tubes. I like doing car work, but I’m not pulling all that stuff out twice…I’m lazy lol
Replacement tubes were only $120 and come with a lifetime warranty, so I’m def going that route. |
