Indeed......

I want to order my X5 with Amaro Brown Ind leather, but I'd really like the leather dash.

You can order the very expensive (here in UK) BMW Ind leather dash but it doesn't come with the leather to the door tops, and I really like the extra comfort/look of the leather door tops.

So, I'm having to decide whether I like the Mocha Nappa interior enough over the Amaro to enable me to get the leather door tops.....

Here's mine in all black. And the contrast in leather quality between the Dakota leather seats and the Nappa leather dash/upper door area. Was worried it would look at out place, but it's a nice contrast IMO.

We got the Mocha Interior Design package with the leather dash on our new X5 last week. We also have a '14 X5 with no leather dash and the regular dakota leather. IMO, the leather dash and nappa leather (along with the multicontour seats) turn the X5 into a first-rate, very luxurious cabin as good if not better than any of the high end trims of competing vehicles. It's a must-have for me on all of our future BMWs.

How do you order this $1200 option? I do not see it in the X5 50i configurator. I want Black interior. Thanks!

I don't think it's available standalone in the 50i. It's only included with the executive package or with one of the interior design packages.

That said, since BMW has also made the executive package the only way to get the heads up display on the 50i, that's something you'd probably want to order anyway.

4M5 is the option code for the Leather Dash in the US; according to the 2017 ordering guide, it is not standard for the 50i and appears to only be available as a part of the executive package.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I am planning on ordering with Exec Package so that is good to know. I know at one time on E70 it was a standalone option so thanks for clarification!

are you sure?? ... in the tiny configurator pic it looks like leather dash is included in (Ind) Amaro and (Ind) Cirillo ... maybe that's why you cannot add it?

Be careful, there is an individual dash which is slightly different/better looking. In Europe it is a separate option and it is more expensive than regular leather dash. Super confusing as you have all these packages (nappa) that have leather dash included, then you have certain dakota leathers (not all) that you can combine with black nappa leather dash and you have individual leather that has a nappa leather dash which is two tone in the middle.

Correct.

Here in UK, the BMW Ind leather dash option (the two tone as mentioned) that you can have with Ind.Merino seats is not only very expensive at Ł2k........it also doesn't included the leather door cappings either....

Yeah, the BMW "build 'em" site is as clear as mud. We ordered the X5 3.5i with the ivory/black napa interior package kit...which seemed to exclude the leather dash option (wouldn't let you select one, without deleting the other). Then two sales guys had contradictory statements ~ one saying it included the leather dash, the other saying not!

I have no idea of what's going to show up, but I REALLY hope it does!!!

I think it will include as all nappa have it.

It should include the leather dash. You just couldn't select the dash individually because it was already bundled into the package.

That leather dash looks really good, and I'm sure it's a lot easier to keep clean.

What material is my dash made of...? It kinda looks like leather, but doesn't quite feel like leather OR plastic.

If it's the standard BMW interior material, its some sort of rubberized plastic. I think the design term is 'soft touch' plastic or something weird like that.

Ah, that sounds about right. Thanks for the info.

Any idea on works best to clean this rubberized plastic?

I tried using the same leather cleaning wipes I use on the seats, but it just doesn't work like it used to when I had the 650 GC. Next time I will ensure that the full leather option is offered when building another car.

I know it has been said a few times throughout this thread, but a car this expensive, ESPECIALLY with the executive package... something like a leather dash should be standard.

I'm not sure about the cleaning - I've had leather on most of my cars and didn't care about keeping the ones that didn't have leather all that clean.

I would check with a good auto detail site. There are some really nice all-purpose cleaners out there that should work (though you may want to do a test spot first to make sure it doesn't stain or anything).

http://www.autosol.com/aboutus.asp
Original BMW” products, sold at BMW dealerships throughout the world. Autosol products are used by BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen at factories in Germany, and at the Ford factory in Spain. We also manufacture car care products for Toyota, Nissan, Texaco and Shell.

I have not their rubber or plastic products. I have used metal polish for the exhaust tips and Aluminum polish and cleaner on the running boards. Nice.
At the Welt, metal polish is sold as Autosol and not rebranded as BMW.
In Canada the dealer sells cleaning prouducts barnded as BMW but the bottle shapes looks like autosol.

For your specific Rubberized/plastic, try calling tech support and he was most helpful.

Guys,

Is it possible to get black nappa leather and leather dashboard on F15? I don't see black nappa option anywhere for F15...

What was the option to get black nappa? Did you need to get the mocha package interior or was black nappa an extra $$?
