X5 M vs AMG GLE 63s?
Sorry if this has been discussed. I ran a search and couldn't find any discussions on it. I'm basically looking for any real world comparison between the two. In part because a buddy of mine recently got a GLE 63s and claims from his research it's decidedly faster then my X5 M and ran down a list of other things that are great about the AMG, but then ends it with the X5M may be a "slight touch" better at handling. I left it at that as I didn't care to get dragged into an ego debate as he has manged in the past to pull me into. I know this is petty, but it has been gnawing at me. I've just been under the impression that the X5M is superior to the GLE in pretty much every way. If anyone has actual experience with both or just the GLE 63s I'd like to hear it.

The X5M does zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds.
The quarter mile in 12.2 at 114 MPH. It has a .98G handling around car and drivers slalom. It also received 5 STARS from Car and Driver. For the $$$ this is the absolute best SUV out there. |

There's one GLE63 S Coupe that keeps trying to race me. I get amused when his front excessively lifts like a pendulum when he's speeding off, and swings the other way when he stops at the lights. It sounds so raw and uncontrolled. Its perspective also looks out of place, kinda like a raised sedan on really large wide wheels, especially when viewed from the rear.

I've had both. The GLE63 sounds great and the leather is softer in the interior. It also got a lot of attention parked - several times had people looking at when parked at stores. It was terrible in the snow even with dedicated snow tires and I hated the electronics.
IMHO the X5M is the much better vehicle. Handles better, electronics are much better and I like the ergonomics better. They are both stupid fast. |

I posted almost the same thing somewhere. I was looking for comparisons on the X6M and AMG63 GLE Coupe. Not sure if it was here or on the MB forum.

You have to drive both. x5m drives so much better and is a much more capable car. GLE is a looker but it doesn't like to be abused and it certainly doesn't come close to x5m in handling and electronics. The x5M transmission is one of the best I've experienced.

The X5M transmission shifts well, but the transmission programming could be improved a lot. It is much too slow to downshift, and unless you have it in the highest setting it just feels lazy and doesn't keep the car in the powerband. I really wish there was a tune for the transmission to improve that, because that's the only thing that really frustrates me about this car.
