Brand or style of two sided tape for mudflaps
Installed the OEM flaps last year. I had to remove them to replace a part of the invisihitch that jammed up from the winters salt and rust.
Now I have to re-install the flaps again, but I want to use two sided tape that wont harm or damage the paint or can be removed again if I have to take the flaps off in the future. The OEM tape left no residual and came off easily, yet held the flpas on solidly. Anyone know what product BMW uses for this tape? Thx

I keep a large roll of 3M VHB double sided tape on hand. Expensive for the good stuff, but our family of 7 uses it all over the place at home, plus we constantly use it at work. It moves around so much I should really order a second roll instead of trying to figure out where it currently resides.

There are many variations of VHB tape so make sure to use the correct one or you can harm your paint if you plan to take it off later.

Thx for all those replies. I just ordered the VHB on amazon. It says for automotive use. I'll post pics of the flaps. I was more than happy after I installed the OEM flaps front and back. Easy to install without having to remove and tires. I live in the Northeast and hate the thought of my paint getting salt and sand blasted especially when turning the front wheels.
They look like they are part of the car. I also bought the OEM flaps for my wife's Q5 but they look cheap compared to the BMW ones.

Can you please tell me how efficient they are in keeping the sides and the rear cleaner? Is there any difference in how fast the rear and under side mirrors cameras are getting useless because of the dirt?

I'm sure there is less blow back because of the flaps. No flaps then you are assured to see small chips behind where flaps would be into the paint if your climate gets any snow. I've seen some BMW's where the back up camera lens pops out of the rear emblem. All cars should do this. I don't appreciate for a car with a 65k MSRP that I have to go behind the car especially in the winter and wipe the dirt off the back up lens. What good is having a back up camera (which up until like last year it was not even standard) and the lens get constantly dirty? What pisses me off with SUV's is no matter how clean you get the car . . . drive around for a few minues and your tail gate is dirty again. One would think they could easily design say a spoiler on top of the back edge of the roof that channels the wind down across the tailgate keeping it clean. Where's the German engineering when you need it
