Hi there everybody,

ABC Delete (EGR / (SCR) / DEF / DPF) is now possible for the F15 N57 X5 35D 2014-2018 and Stage Performance Tuning.

First off for those that don't know what this is about:

ABC is often referred to EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), the 3 things that are involved for emissions regulation on a diesel nowadays. The "Delete" is essentially a term used to get rid of, or eliminate these parts, functions...

You might ask why would I do that, isn't it good that my car isn't producing as many emissions? ... Well, the reason why some folks remove these parts/functions is that it is not good for your vehicle and generally those parts fail with time (sooner than you might expect) especially the EGR components like valves, actuators coolers etc..
The Motor "burns" your Diesel, and then up to 30% of the Exhaust Gas will be reintroduced into your Air intake alongside fresh air to be mixed and burned again. Before it gets to that point it will have to be directed through an Exhaust Gas Cooler.
The problem here is, that, not only is your car running less efficient and with less power, but also the soot produced will clog up several parts such as EGR cooler and actuator etc. Carbon will be building in your Air Intake Manifold which then needs to be replaced as well. On top of that, the soot will get into your motor oil (and will not be caught/filtered with your normal oil filter) basically wearing on your motor, essentially causing it to age faster...
The Diesel Particulate filter has also negative effects (see video below for an explanation) - With this ABC Delete you will also no longer have to refill/add Diesel Exhaust Fluid (Add-Blue) every ~10k Miles.

Here is an excellent Video:

You can also reach out to me here in the post if you have additional questions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is something that a lot of folks have been waiting for...for some time... and I figured I give everybody the "full picture" of what can be done, how, when where etc...

("Obviously", you need to see what local, state or national laws state in this regard before you pull the trigger, it might only be legal for offroad use etc.)

I added those that were involved in prior discussions, in other posts. If you'd like to be removed or not interested anymore let me know. Just trying to help.

The Wait is over!...

BPC now has a Downpipe for the N57 X5D 2014-2018 available, here is the link to their bimmerpost announcement :https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1525131.

As I was told, they (BPC) will also have the hardware for a physical EGR hardware delete, though I bought mine from another company, see below...

Now to what I will/have purchased...and that might help you decide, should you plan on doing this delete...

ABC Delete "software" is offered by them (BPC) or Malone Tuning, I went/going with Malone Tuning though for several reasons. (PM me if you have questions in this regard)

I bought my EGR removal hardware from a company that holds the patent for this model in Europe: www.Abbes-Performance.com Sebastian is the Owner and very responsive during (their) business hours (info@abbes-Performance.com)
They sell them through the website or eBay to international customers. I ended up requesting an invoice through PayPal directly instead (cuts down a bit on the price for saved fees).
(https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263686123645) ~$80

If you only want to remove the EGR Components you will need to remove the EGR Cooler and Valve/Actuator and replace the coolant line that's attached to the cooler (very simple and accessible). To remove these components you will need to remove the intake air manifold, the cowl fan and install the above block of plates in addition to getting the ECU Flash-delete - I recommend going through Malone for the Tune, they can do overnight shipping both ways. Just as a side Note: After the EGR system is removed you will increase the chances of the DPF plugging should you not give the car enough time for regeneration.

Some additional links:

Downpipe's:

BPC https://bimmerperformancecenter.com/...nt=24814515521 $995

ÄÄRodrigueszCorp has one half that price as of 9/4/18 http://www.tunemyeuro.com/buzzken-f1...downpipe-only/ $849 if you want to have a cat added to that for the smell add another $300

Deletes and Stage Tuning:

ABC Delete with Optional Performance tune: https://malonetuning.com/ecu-tuning/bmw-diesel $749 ABC Delete + $249 (with performance tune 340hp 510 ft/lbs ** )
For the tuning portion I can highly recommend Malone, A++ Customer Support and awesome results!

Performance Tune from BPC & Link to their Tune Announcement Post:
https://bimmerperformancecenter.com/...iesel-dde-tune
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1425461

SCR can be removed and Straight Piped in by a Local Welding Shop or somebody with the tools and knowledge - should run you about $100.

Let me know if I missed something or If you have any questions and I'll modify this post as we go. Hope you appreciate it having everything in one post, at least I thought you would :-P.

PS. If you in need of finding repair/removal/install instructions... here you go: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...xdrive35d-sav/

Just as a side note:

If you are considering doing this yourself instead of having it done by a shop... The DPF removal is quite the challenge as it's mounted to the turbo right by the engine block and to large to be pulled out without doing (large) prior steps. That includes supporting the engine with a jack, removing the engine support arm and engine mount and if you don't want to drop the whole differential you also need to cut of the flex fitting of the DPF with a reciprocating saw after you raised the engine about 6" with the jack. If that's no problem for you, everything else is "pretty easy". There are a few tips and tricks associated with certain task as they are with everything. Feel free to send me a PM.

Wish I lived in a state that didn't test or have emission laws for diesel...

I'm not a hippie, but would vote for 100% emissions testing across the board, w/o any exceptions, grandfathering, etc.

Thank you for sharing this great information, wanted to know or get an idea of total cost and complexity of doing this repair? I am somewhat mechanically oriented and can handle the average job; based on your post the downpipes $1000 + EGR Delete $100 + Tune $1000; its a little over $2100; not sure if I am missing any items? Thank you for your help, seriously considering this modification to my F15 X5 35D.

You are correct. The only (small) thing you missed is the straight pipe that you will need to get from the muffler shop. That should run you about $100.

The other thing you missed is the need of lots of tools and lots patience lol

I was wondering when they were going to get a downpipe and tune going. Might have to give Ken a call. Thanks for the post!

Playtookies, how hard was the install? Any words of wisdom?

In regards to how hard it was...see the last paragraph in the first post ;-). In regards to wisdom... there are quite a few things that would I have known prior... it would have made a few things easier... things that are not super clear in the repair/technical manuals - or not even mentioned at all.

Thanks for the quick response. I seen you post earlier and didn't go back and reread before I posted my comment. Sounds like a fun project to tackle if I go this route.

Your welcome. I been having issues with notifications here myself lately... not sure what's going on. Glad you found it though. Tried to use as many key words as possible for folks to find it when needed.

Having owned a Diesel vehicle for the past 13 years and operated diesel engines at work for longer than that, Ive seen things come and go, and change. Ive modified many of them, and have seen the effects of the emissions. Ive seen 300,000 dollar machines lock up engines due to the DEF system failures. Machine down time due to faulty DEF equipment, not to mention the waste from Producing, transporting, and using the DEF itself. Its 6 one way, half dozen the other. You burn more fuel, sometimes twice as much, to clean slightly cleaner air. Meanwhile Fossil fuels are limited, and without the emissions, you can run 100% Bio-Diesel. Which is cleaner yet... It all depends on which side of the fence you wanna stand on. Both are equally bad, personally Ill stand the side that will give me less of a headache. LOL

You did well on the post. I have half a notion to just take the X5 down to Raleigh and having them do everything and be done with it. Its only about 10 hours.

It seems like it only smokes after it idles and then revved up. If this is the worst it does, smoke is not that bad. My TDI smoked more completely stock.

Can you post any videos of 0-70 or 5-70 or whatever you deem appropriate.

Thanks

Id love to see some videos of inside noise, and possible drive bys. No one seems to produce those when they do the work.

Yes really only noticeable on video IMO. Why 0-70? Isn't it usually 0-60?
I'm planing on putting it on the dyno here sometime soon.

What do you mean by "do the work"? I can take an inside noise, the noise level is hardly changed from what it was before. Really not hear a tad bit difference from the turbo whistle at lower speeds. And by drive by you mean having somebody stand on the side of the road and take a video me driving by them? How do you have a comparison on what it was prior?
